About the adventure

Join the Watch, They Said. It'll Be Exciting, They Said. Welcome to Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, the Discworld roleplaying game where you and your friends step into the slightly-overpolished boots of the City Watch—those brave, confused, occasionally flammable souls who stand between the teeming masses and total civic collapse. Your job? Maintain the peace, uphold the law, investigate inexplicable goings-on, and most importantly, try not to blow up anything too expensive. THE PLOT -------- In "Up in Smoke", you’re called to Lady Ramkin’s Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons to poke about after a mysterious break-in. Simple, right? Except some dragons are missing. And they tend to explode. And there are markings, suspicious scraps of cloth, hungover reptiles, who's idea of a calm digestive system involves spontaneous combustion. It’s the sort of case that has Commander Vimes looking particularly bloodshot and muttering about paperwork. THE GAME -------- This isn’t your typical fantasy RPG. There are no hit points, no stats, no +1 swords, and absolutely no maps covered in 5-foot squares. Instead, players wield traits, terrible puns, and the raw, chaotic power of Narrativium—that mysterious substance that ensures a city guard on their last day before retirement is 82% more likely to be hit by a cartload of plot. Whether you're a werewolf sergeant with impulse control issues or a troll raised by humans with a degree in etiquette, your real weapon is ingenuity (and possibly a truncheon). Players use their character quirks and traits to attempt actions. The better the fit, the bigger the dice. The GM roll a dice, if you win, you succeed. if you lose, you get consequences. If you tie, you get consequences. Let's face it, every action has consequences. This game is all about Roleplay and is suitable for people who love Discworld and using their character's personality to influence the events and probably cause mayhem. If you've ever wanted to save the day with a bold speech and a dragon leash, This is the game for you. After all, it’s Ankh-Morpork: the city where even the weather needs a licence! --- PLAY BY POST ACTIVITY -- PBP are slow but enjoyable. To keep things flowing for everyone, I will make a substantial post every 24-36 hours to move the game along. Between that time, I will pop into the game and answer questions and make comments for fun and help players decide their actions. I ask players if they are done in a certain scene before moving on. Players are asked to post in a similar way. Of course, we understand that sometimes life happens and you don't get the time or headspace to meet this commitment. In which case, your character can pause or be run by someone else. There can be audio summaries in Discord to help you catch up if you miss many things. An impression of time difference in PBP vs live games is 2 hours of live games is approximately 1 month PBP. Players game together happily across different life schedules and time zones.

About me

I specialise in running Dungeons & Dragons adventures and I like to inject a bit of humour into them all. I follow the nr1 rule that "D&D is about having fun!" I have been doing fantasy games all my life and love making stories for others, and enjoy seeing my players interact. I like to get to know my players and their characters and tweek the story to give them something personal to chew on. For my homebrew adventures I like to use popular cultural references in my games, especially when naming monsters (like a quiz) and crazy NPCs. I use Discord, Owlbear Rhodeo and Theatre of the mind with some AI images to make the experience more immersive. I really like running Play-by-Post adventures as we get to know each other over a longer period of timme and on a daily basis. For me running games is like spending time with people who enjoy each others creativity.

The current party

PLAY BY POST ----------------------- The whole game is delivered via Discord (story) and Owlbear rodeo (maps). Your DM will post the unfolding story at least once a day (probably more). Players then post their interactions and roleplay, roll dice in D&D Beyond and Discord. The DM then responds, and so the adventure reveals. PBP is great for people who find it hard to meet a regular schedule of games, who like to microdose on D&D daily, and who enjoy writing and getting into roleplaying. or who find they cannot access live face-to-face games. With a mobile device, you can play anywhere, anytime. You will NOT NEED to learn Avrea commands. The benefits of play-by-post are: - THOUGHTFUL ACTIONS: Take your time considering your optimal combat move or roleplay interaction. - FRIENDSHIPS: Bond with your fellow players as they become a daily presence in your life - CHARACTER BUILDING: Dive deep into your character as you roleplay through text, giving as much detail to their thoughts, responses and personality as the campaign builds. - FLEXIBLE GAMING: Play anytime, anywhere with people across different time zones. No more scheduling the group to meet - WORLD BUILDING: Detailed descriptions and A permanent record of what happened in the campaign builds, so no more arguments about what was said - EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES: In this style of group, your voice and actions are always heard and counted. It's not about who is fastest.
