Star Trek Re:Generation - A Star Trek Adventures 2d20 Game
You are one of Starfleet's best, so of course they give you the hardest assignments. Face impossible moral dilemmas, incorrigible Ferengi, and more!
About the adventure
"Captain's Log: Stardate 48645.3. The year is 2371. The USS Voyager has recently been flung across the galaxy and is meeting plenty of new life and new civilizations in the Delta Quadrant. Deep Space 9 is about to become the front in a galactic conflict between the Federation and the Dominion. The Enterprise D has just been destroyed over Veridian III and at this very moment its saucer section is hurtling towards the planet's surface, its power disabled, its pilot swearing as the magnitude of the danger dawns on the seasoned bridge crew. But why should they get to have all the fun? A science vessel has gone missing while testing a critically important new warp engine prototype, and we just happen to be the nearest ship to its last known location. By all accounts this should be a simple search-and-rescue... but something tells me it's not going to be all that simple." In Star Trek Adventures, you will take on the role of a Starfleet officer embarking on a perilous but rewarding journey into the unknown. Your missions will include search and rescue, science, diplomacy, security, and of course exploration. While the game is set during a very busy period of Star Trek history, it is a standalone adventure and you will not need detailed knowledge of Star Trek lore. The game is meant to evoke the mood of TNG but will draw inspiration from other Trek series as well. This campaign will begin with the starter campaign "A Star Beyond the Stars", which was written to provide players a satisfying and complete introduction to the setting and rules system.

About me
Hello! I'm Neal, and I've been playing and running RPGs since high school. I love roleplaying and entertaining, and I've pursued a career in adjacent fields such as theatre and education, but with the rise of online gaming I've decided to take my hobby to the next level. I was born and raised in New York, where I worked in the theatre industry throughout my 20's until I decided it was time for a more radical change in scenery. I moved to the country of Georgia and became a teacher, drawing on my theatre experience to teach subjects such as Design and Drama. After more than a decade teaching, the pandemic showed me that remote work was definitely my jam. I've been running games online for about four years now and I love the experience. I've set up a discord server and a cloud-hosted Foundry VTT installation, which I've tailored to my DMing style using a variety of add-on modules. My games are designed to be approachable and beginner-friendly and to foster meaningful roleplaying experiences in which player characters have an important place in the setting and players have the opportunity to add to the world with creative input.

Knows how to build a fun and inclusive campaign, knows the rules very well and does a great job with new players. Able to keep the action moving forward even during large combat encounters that can otherwise feel like a slog. I'm getting ready to start campaign 2 with Neal, after running through Yawning Portal over the last 11 months. Highly recommended!
So many things I want to say great about Neal, from his voices to his extra worldbuilding, extreme character detailing for the NPCs and SO much more but I would all night typing, suffice to say his is a rare talent among role players. Plus his combats are so very fun!!! Would recommend for sure, 5/5 stars and add 5 more
Neal I one of the best DMs I have ever played with. He likes to have both great role play as well as quick and efficient combat. He encourages players to become a part of the world he has created. I am currently playing in two of his campaigns because one just wasn't enough. The second campaign Curse of Stauf drew us in so we'll both myself and a second player has some vivid macabre dreams of Barovia. I would highly recommend any game he runs.
I've played two campaigns with Neal over the last year and a half. He is very passionate about making the game fun for everyone. I've been impressed with his inclusive nature and the respect he gives to each player personalities. As a beginner, I've only started playing in the last couple of years, I felt like he was very helpful and forgiving during my learning process. I can't wait for the next adventure. :)
I'm very much enjoying my sessions with Neil. He is very good at bringing his NPCs to life with humor and creativity. I'm finding his sessions are very well balanced and he doesn't let the story bog down. He's attuned to his players as well, adjusting to the group's playstyle and vibes. Highly recommended.
Character creation
Creating your character
Star Trek Adventures offers a Lifepath character creation system. We will go through this system together during Session 0 and create characters at the table - this will help us get to know the system, each other, and each other's characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account and a web browser to access Foundry. A headset (or earbuds) is preferable to avoid echo - Discord's noise canceling is usually not sufficient. We will go over character creation together during Session 0. I will have a quickstart guide available on my Discord server which you can read if you'd like to get acquainted with the rules before we start.
What Neal Z brings to the table
I have a self-hosted Foundry VTT setup and we will use the FoundryVTT Star Trek Adventures module. I have a pack of map tiles for the inside of everyone's favorite Galaxy-class starship and will create custom maps as needed, although the game is mostly theatre of the mind. I have been called a Rule of Cool DM, although I respect the fairness and predictability of Rules as Written and generally run things RAW unless there is a compelling reason not to. At my table we believe in Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations.

How Neal Z creates a safe table
Session 0 will include introductions, house rules, a discussion of Lines and Veils and how other safety tools will be used, and then the creation of characters and selection of a starship.
