About me
Matt here! I fell in love with tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1989. I was eight years old, over at my friend's house, and their older brother ran the game. Though the game only lasted three weeks, I was hooked on the story, world-building, and absolute joy of the game. However, I couldn't find anyone to run e-games or be a Game Master. So, I accepted that role and turned as many friends I could into players, then began turning any players I could find into friends. My first love is the story and characters, and combat keeps it interesting. For a long time, a company called White Wolf made my favorite games. I ran those for years and gave up on D&D because most people I found at the time liked the rules more than the story, and I could never find people who enjoyed both. Then, Critical Role brought everyone out of the woodwork! After watching their streams along with Relics and Rarities, I started to explore D&D games again. And I couldn't be happier about this! About a year ago, I started making steps to turn my 30 years of experience and passion for D&D into a full-time, sustainable career. In one year, I found terrific players and, by the grace of God, have been able to become a full-time storyteller in the TTRPG space. See you at the table! Creating your character
The character creation process will occur between session 0 and before the first session begins. Players will roll for their stats using D&D Beyond, and I will provide additional tools and guidance in the campaign's Discord channel to assist with character creation. The starting level for characters will be level 9, allowing players to begin their journey as powerful and experienced heroes. Character creation will be a collaborative process, and players are encouraged to discuss their ideas and concepts with me and the rest of the group. While players are free to use any official D&D sourcebooks for inspiration, they should focus on the resources and guidelines provided to ensure their character fits seamlessly into the world of Issyrla.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players must create a free account on the platform I will provide, where we will host our campaign. A microphone is required for communication during the game, and while a camera is encouraged for a more immersive experience, it is optional.
What Matt brings to the table
I offer a comprehensive experience designed to immerse players in the world of Issyrla. As a GM, I provide access to D&D Beyond resources to enhance character creation and gameplay. Additionally, I curate an engaging Discord community where players can connect, discuss, and immerse themselves in the campaign between sessions. During gameplay, I use background music tailored to the scene to enhance the atmosphere, and I bring characters to life with unique voices. I also use custom-made miniatures to visualize the world and characters, adding a tactile element to the game. My GM style is focused on storytelling, immersive roleplaying, and embracing the Rule of Cool, ensuring that each player feels like a hero in their own epic saga

How Matt creates a safe table
I will send a survey after you sign up so we can ensure the game is fun for everyone. In session 0, we will review content, create character bonds, and add your touches to the world. Our safety tools are digital and verbal during the game. In addition, we will stream games on Twitch and archive them on YouTube. This allows players to encourage each other from other games and review the previous session if desired.
