About me
Hello, my name is Kat, or Robin depending on where you know me from. I started playing Tabletop games about eight years ago after stumbling across some one-shots at a convention, and since then it has become my main hobby. The idea of a story that can be built together and then changes each time depending on the group and their choices is one that really drew me in. I've always loved storytelling, but writing was often a pretty lonely time. I love the idea of not knowing what is going to happen next, and reacting to and growing the campaign with other people who think of things I never would have come up with on my own. I also have ventured out into short games of Vampire the Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk Red, and Blades in the Dark. I love political intrigue, suspense, and social adventures. As my choice in games and this whole listing probably gives away. Fighting can be fun occasionally, but definitely isn't why I play tabletop games. I also do a lot of advocacy work, and this often bleeds into my DMing where I want to create nuanced, and diverse stories and a welcoming environment for players of all backgrounds. I love running intrigue games with that are very story heavy and character driven as opposed to more combat focused games.

Just had a solo DM workshop with Dave, touching on a number of different aspects of DMing, storytelling, setting up a game on Foundry, marketing, and even just chatting about our respective groups and campaigns that are going on. It was a good time, and he came prepared with a number of documents laying out different subjects and tips that I was able to take with me after. Even when covering topics that I already knew, it was a lot of fun to talk back and forth on things and see a different DM's perspective! Seems like a cool guy who puts a lot of thought into his work. Would do again.
Anduriel was the first person I've play The One Ring with, and made it super easy to pick up the system and engage with both the world and scenario presented. They kept us moving, but not rushed, and allowed some really fun roleplaying interactions. Absolutely would recommend.
Played Blades in the Dark for the first time with him, and he made it very easy to understand and pick up. He also did a great job at incorporating player ideas into the scenario, and moving around the spotlight so we all had our own interesting moments. Would love to play a game with him again!
I've only been playing with Dabinski for a few sessions now, but I'm already impressed with the ways he's made the adventure his own. It's obvious he really loves running his games and goes all in when immersing himself in his DMing. Voices, sound effects, music, and setpieces are all there. The NPCs feel real. The world feels alive. Knowing the rules are great, but really caring about the story your running and making the story feel like a living thing is, I think, one of the marks of a great GM. So far Dabinski has been ticking all the boxes on that front.
This was my first time playing CoC in a while and I think it was a great step back into things. The adventure was fairly straightforward, but it was still very entertaining and Gord handled the group well. I think we all had a lot of fun together, and he was also great at explaining rules for anyone confused. I'm planning on running my own CoC game myself and he even stayed after the session and gave me some tips and had a pretty long discussion about the system and we swapped resources with each other. It was a great time and I'd recommend him as a DM.
