Just finished a social intrigue one shot with Callie this evening and had a ball. She did a great job of setting the scenes and putting together enough mystery and twists to keep us on our toes. She did not miss a beat when we decided to split the party (into 3 groups) and kept the action moving, never having me feel disengaged, even when the others were in action. Also great at incorporating and adjusting the story to the actions of the party, making the world alive and having our (sometimes odd) actions have real meaning and effect. Looking forward to playing with her again. Would recommend.
As I have said elsewhere, I wanted to wait until I had a number of games with a GM (Keeper) before writing a review. After a few months, I can definitely recommend DailyDM/Chex. I joined a long term Call of Cthulhu campaign (Masks of Nyarlathotep) shortly after it began. I immediately felt welcomed in and integrated into the group. He does a great job of maintaining a large amount of interconnected material and still manages to present it to us in a manner that seems appropriately convoluted as intended, but straightforward enough that we can still follow the clues in our own. Not always an easy task. He has handled the inevitable availability issues as they arise and has kept sessions going, even with some great one-shots on the rare occasion that only a few players were able to play. Most of all, he allows the players the chance to play their characters, even when they make the mistakes, and rolls with the natural results (R.I.P. Mack) Looking forward to many more games.
So, I gave myself a rule to wait until I get several sessions in with a GM before posting a review. After a couple of months now I am able to post the following criticisms of Jeremiah: - He is too good at cooperative world building and setting out a rich setting; - He not only allows, but facilitates player creativity in building the story, not just for themselves but the world; - He has cute dogs; - He mixes understanding and application of the rules with working for what is best with the narrative to a high degree, which has already resulted in several occasions of memorable emotional moments at the table; - He had the audacity to be understanding of real world issues that may impact players and to manage those issues in a way to allow the game to progress and continue relatively seamlessly; and finally - He appreciates (I hope) mildly sarcastic reviews. I've run and played in games for years (and years, and years). Jeremiah does a fantastic job. You'd be lucky to have him.
