Slosh is an excellent DM. He does a great job at creating a multidimensional world filled with engaging NPCs for his players. He’s got a first rate grasp on the mechanics. He’s patient when players struggle with rules. He makes space for players who want to try unusual character builds. And he takes the extra time needed to work out the balance on those characters. He’s excellent about incorporating backstories and even allowing for mini individual side quests for PCs without losing the thread of the larger story or leaving out other players. (I’ve never seen another DM do that right. But Slosh manages to do it.) I’ve been playing with Slosh weekly for about 9 months. We’ve been doing a campaign in a part of the Grim Hollow setting which has very little info in the official module. Most of it has needed to be homebrewed. It’s been a great campaign - dark and weird and horrifying. In short, perfect for Grim Hollow.
Vincent is my favorite DM. I am playing in two live campaigns currently. He has a superb grasp of even obscure rules and runs great games with music, interactive maps, etc. But far beyond that- he takes extra time outside of games to help with any problems or questions. He is patient and kind with players new to DnD, struggling with different mechanics, or just trying to figure out a new class for the first time. He creates elaborate multidimensional narrative worlds to live in. He’s also great at pivoting when players do unexpected things. He fosters excellent camaraderie among players as well. Both groups are very well balanced and Vincent does job of encouraging and rewarding cooperation among the players. I genuinely look forward to our live games all week long. Book a game with him! You’ll be happy you did.
Noralf is the gold standard by which other DMs should be judged. I have played DnD with him on both asynchronous/PbP games and live games. He has a superb grasp of even obscure rules and runs great games with music, interactive maps, etc. But far beyond that- he takes extra time outside of games to help with any problems or questions. He is patient and kind with players new to DnD or struggling with different mechanics. I found using Avrae daunting at first, but he took time to walk me through it with tutorials, set me up with cheat sheets, and I’ve even seen him reprogram parts of it around the needs of players and campaigns. He fosters excellent camaraderie among players as well. I look forward all week to our live games. I excitedly check my PbP games last thing before bed and first thing when I wake up. And more times than I probably should throughout the day. He also has a subtle and superb sense of humor. Players have a thread where they share favorite quotes from games and his lines are often posted and players talk about them. In short, Noralf is worth every penny.
I don’t say this lightly. Bruno is one of the best DMs I’ve had. First, he’s a great storyteller. I’ve had the best time on our Planescape campaign. Secondly, he is incredibly meticulously. He has a command of the game rules that is rare among DMs and incredible recall on the smallest details of our campaign. Thirdly, in my own case, I asked him to help me learn new classes I never played before, and he has been a patient and kind teacher and taken a lot of extra time to coach me. He’s genuinely great!!!
I did a Friday Night Frights D&D 5e one off with Bob and it was awesome. Bob's adventure was fun. The story was tight. The action kept moving. The environment he created was the best. It reminded me of that old school, tried and true D&D when you sat around a table in your mom's basement with your friends after a long week at school. He also believes strongly in "the rule of cool". There were two times when players came up with crazy stuff that fit the story, so Bob came up with rubrics to make it work, and the game became even more fun. I would strongly recommend Bob for your next adventure.
