About Bob
I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons since the early 1980s when there was no AD&D. Most recently, I was the lead DM for my local library where I ran games two nights per week. One some nights, we had over 50 players and, with the help of a couple of other DMs, kept everyone playing and having fun. I love theater-of-the-mind. Roleplaying, extensive descriptions, and even offline dice rolls are my preference. I think that players (and I) have a better time when we build images and stories in our minds. As a professional writer, I can convey what's happening well, engage in dialogue, and pivot a storyline quickly. I love the ease of play-by-post (PbP), as well as live play. With PbP, even busy professionals, students, and parents can participate in TTPRGs without needing to have a quiet space or have hours to set aside. I believe in cooperative play. I work with my players to build the characters and storylines that interest everyone. I'm committed to the inclusive and relaxed nature of true D&D. If you can suspend disbelief enough to speak seriously about magic spells and talking dragons, you can make space in the real world for every type of person. Let's have fun! That's the one and only true rule I live by.

I got started GMing...
a long time ago. I do it because I love telling stories and helping players drive a fun and powerful narrative.
My favorite shows/movies are
Alien, Resident Evil, Supernatural, The X-Files, Hellraiser, and lots and lots of horror stories. I spent decades reading every fantasy and horror book I could find.
When I'm not running games I'm...
a professional writer who spends his days writing stories for companies and individuals.
How Bob runs games
My passion for roleplaying comes from my passion for reading and telling stories. It's all about building worlds so real that they shimmer in your mind right next to "reality."
Bob's ideal table
My ideal table comprises players who like to play in the theater of the mind, roleplaying their way through challenges and an endless series of strange happenings. While combat is fun, it's never a focus of my games. In fact, I reward bloodless encounters where players think or talk their way out of conflicts rather than hacking their way out.

I am for a vibe that's...
fun and a little dark. I enjoy the darker side of fantasy where hidden creatures live and roam.
I love it when a player
role plays their way out of conflicts or create a unique solution to a problem, a solution I didn't think of.
My table is not the place for...
murder hobos, angry, judgmental players, or players who feel that it's their way or the highway. I have no tolerance for racism, sexism, discrimination, or other exclusionary activities.
