About me
One lately Father's Day I gave my step-father a box set called 'Dungeons & Dragons'. It would be months before he let me play a game that he ran with some of his friends. That moment changed everything. I loved the idea of playing and GM'ing games, collected all the books, made PC's and NPC's, drew maps, and played essentially non-stop through the 2000's. Life intervenes, but COVID brought me back into it via an online game with my brother and friends. This means I tend towards the OSR type games..especially since I cut my teeth on Basic/Advanced DND. I'm also curious about ShadowDark, Pathfinder, and Goodman Games. I like games with puzzles, challenging combat, challenging role-play, and when the death of the character is Very Much Possible. As for role-playing - I'm a better diarist than voice-actor. I tend to be focused on bending the tropes during character creation a little (or a lot) and prefer a group that aligns a little more on the serious side. I'm happy to give the DM a lot of knives, and have been awarded much inspiration by DM's for playing the character's faults and fears. I generally choose how I level based on the character and his/her experiences rather than maximizing stats. I don't enjoy gaming with folks that attempt to exploit the game system and/or min/max to a fault. I also don't love playing with people that split the party constantly or pick-pocket/steal/pvp unless it makes sense in context of the game's story. Maybe this makes me too old-school: but I don't want to delve deep with a team that will try and long-rest before every-single-combat! I like to try and really feel how my character would feel be in the deep dark dungeon..cold and damp - the hiss of the torchlight, the flicker of the fire - the only sounds of life are those deep drums/moans/chains and we just know deep down that *something* is stalking us..

This is my first game with Leland, and they have got a spark of actual magic, wit, talent with voices..Leland is great at managing the chaos and pulling threads together to make memorable moments in the game. To be clear, this isn't a rules-based by-the-books rote game (Leland still knows the rules to be clear!) this is more a deep, fantastical, mysterious, magical tour of the realms - with believable characters and time set aside by Leland so that the players can actually really connect and role-play. I'm playing Drakkenheim in D&D 5.5E right now, and it's great! Highly recommend it!
We played an OSR style dungeon crawl game using Foundry and 5E2024 - exploration/ battle focused and it was a blast! He managed a lot of enemies that were all triggered by our scattered party (impressively so) and although I (and a few others) were new to Foundry , he was patient and worked through any issues. Would definitely play with Faight again!
This was my first experience playing with folks I didn't know - usually it's friends and family - and Sofia really broke the ice and made it fun and easy to collaborate on the mission. She knew the rules, ran a good table, and coaxed everyone to contribute with excellent story telling. Would recommend and play again!
