About cuddlegutz (Sofia)
Hi, I'm Sofia (she/they). I've played TTRPGs for over 20 years and GMed various systems throughout that time. I run one-shots and campaigns of D&D, Root: The RPG, Avatar Legends, and other systems when opportunities arise. I'm queer, trans, and neurospicy, and love teaching games to new players!

I became a GM because
I've found so much joy in the space ROGs give for exploring different stories and ways of being in the world. I love creating that space for others and seeing what everyone at the table can build together.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Spire: The City Must Fall, because I love stories of resistance and community building. D&D (any edition) because it's got so much history and depth. Root, because it's always fun to be wodland creatures in a world of factions and political intrigue.
How cuddlegutz (Sofia) runs games
I aim to create spaces that are safe for people to take in-game risks and explore a variety of stories together. I was a classroom teacher for over 10 years, so I've built up skills for keeping people engaged, finding the right level of challenge, making adaptable plans, and making sure everyone is included. I love finding the ways a game system, setting, or plot can fit what players enjoy. I will make sure we clearly communicate about what to expect up front, because I have a wide range of what I'll run in terms of tone, difficulty, and pace. I've GMed cozy slice of life stories, battle-filled wartime campaigns, and gothic horror. I'm big on communication, safety tools, and getting to know what suits each player. I plan for voice and visuals typically in my games, but I'm glad to include players who need to participate in other mediums. Whether we're diving deep into role-play, solving mysteries, engaging in political intrigue, or crunching numbers in nail-biting combat, I look forward to having fun together!

Rules are...
The start of a conversation and good resources for how the game is intended to run. They can help us balance mechanics and build the world, but when they get in the way of fun we can thoughtfully consider other options.
