About me
Greetings adventurers! My name is Gavin, and I have been DMing since 2017. I am a writer by trade. I have run multiple games that have spanned for years. I love a challenge when it comes to learning new settings and meeting new people. My DMing philosophy is that Tabletops are a collaborative experience. I gladly take requests on what to fill the world with. I will also work with you to ensure that your character meets their goals. As long as you put in the work, I will let you achieve anything you wish. I think this is the best way to play because it helps you reflect on your character's actions and desires, as well as your own. I mainly play long-running campaigns, but I am open to one-shots. My style is very "Monster of the Week". Most sessions feature heavy role play (can be goofy, dramatic, romantic, mystery, or horror), and by the end, they're is usually one combat encounter related to your characters or the plot. I also like to explore philosophical and esoteric themes, especially when it comes to the themes of the characters. I also enjoy running games set in different fandoms. Depending on the fandom, I might need time to research, but I can run it. Here is my list of fandoms I can run with little to no research on the world. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mA0__4SybUsTSIliPP5RdK_m02H24uvE_4r3rL1szOU/edit?usp=sharing

This has been my first time doing Start Playing and Fabula Ultima. So it's taken me a minute to separate my thoughts of the system from the GM. Overall, I think Jeff is patient when it comes to new people learning the system (or, in my case, online TTRPG). His style is charming and straightforward. Not in a railroad sense, but more so directly. Which, for me, is refreshing and makes it easy to role-play or engage in combat. Now my next point might be more towards the system, but the roleplay and combat are well organized. You know when you have combat and role play, and it's an easy mix to follow. I want to say this leans more into Jeff's style because he has tried to enhance Fabula by allowing special terrain. He has also taken liberties with world creation for Fabula. Mostly taking enemy creation into his hands and using our prompts for world-building. Which I love. It's something I love doing as a GM and makes me invested in what comes next. He does ask questions as well.
