My first time playing Curse of Strahd beyond just the prologue death house, and Nox has made it incredibly engaging! He truly makes all of the characters feel distinct and responsive, not to mention his use of music really brings the gothic setting to life. Nox rewards roleplaying, allowing all the player characters to feel like actual people within the world and encouraging players to engage with their characters. He makes sure the potential consequences are clear while also allowing us to still play our characters and giving each of us our space to shine. Nox has also implemented a way for each character to have a personal quest within the world of Strahd, thus giving everyone a chance to feel as though they have a personal stake in the isolated world outside of just being people who wandered in, which does absolute wonders for engagement! Combat is tense and visceral, and you are really bought into the stakes due to the aforementioned roleplaying helping you care about those involved. Also, the maps really sell the atmosphere, I cannot stress enough how good Nox is at setting the atmosphere.
Dylan is such a fun DM to play with...! He's very involved with the players in terms of helping them build their characters and integrate the characters into the setting and story, which makes him especially good for both new players and people who like the RP side of things. The music he chooses for the games is absolutely prime, and he is very open to allowing players to take time to RP with each other, while also helping guide the players if they seem lost. Not to mention his improv is absolutely on point, and he fosters an environment of creativity as a result :D
I do not exaggerate when I say that Grayson is the best DM I've ever had for Dungeons & Dragons 5e. Where do I even begin? I suppose first with something that means a lot to me personally: he gives as much of a damn about your character as you do. He will work with you to shape your character's backstory into something that fits into the world, integrating them into the world and story overall. And he will especially help you shape your character's story going forward into the campaign. The terms "makes your character feel like a part of the world" definitely applies - your character did not just spawn fully formed into the world, they have lived in it all the way up to the point you first start playing them, and you get to experience their journey moving forward from that point. And this is just something that I personally really like, but the fact that certain feats and multiclassing must have story reasons for their inclusion makes those decisions feel far more impactful and cool. Then there's the world building and atmosphere Grayson puts into his games! Holy smokes, I cannot count the amount of times Grayson's descriptions, in tandem with choice music/ambience, have made me feel awe or anxiety or whatever else he is trying to convey. And even if you don't feel any particularly strong feelings, you definitely get a vivid idea as to what kind of environment you're in. Also, the homebrew that he's created injects a great amount of fun into playing melee classes especially. Grayson is really good about communication with the players, be it concerning rules or story or above table talk, and be it with all the players at once or one on one. He is always open to feedback, and gives it back in equal measure. I struggle with expressing my thoughts, especially when it comes to providing feedback, but TL;DR - Grayson's an incredible DM. He cares about your characters, he cares about the world he's built for the players, and he cares about his job as the DM.
Sugar is an incredible GM, hands down the best GM I've ever had for Cyberpunk Red and one of the best GMs I've had in general. Her take on Night City in the Time of Red absolutely feels alive, and the implementation of the canon and lore is so fun and well done. I'm a player who puts a lot of effort into my characters in terms of backstory, motives, and personality, and I'm usually very nervous about presenting my characters to GMs out of fear of either being deemed as taking the game too seriously or being told that "you can't play that kind of character in this world." But Sugar takes the player characters just as seriously as the players themselves, respects the time they put into their character's backstory and motives, and leaves the story open to play the character you want to play (that doesn't mean there won't be consequences to your character's actions of course :P). If you're looking to play Cyberpunk Red, you couldn't ask for a better GM than Sugar. They way she weaves character motives and backstory into the story is so engaging, the settings she crafts feel truly alive and lived in, and she excels at making the players feel at ease while also staying true to the brutality of the world in which the characters inhabit.
Brett is a prime GM. He uses the VTTs to their fullest capabilities, even sometimes managing to scare players with a few well timed NPC token reveals…! He’s very accommodating to all players, making sure to include everyone in the game in one way or another, and REALLY knows how to build a sense of atmosphere just through descriptions.
