Jay is a fantastic GM and storyteller. Yeah, he moves the major story along well, but it’s really in the little evocative details; the way he describes an enemy trying to clutch the hero before he collapses from his injuries…. these details add a tremendous amount of verisimilitude to his game, and it’s really easy to get lost in the story. And yet. Jay is also really funny, so when the players are ready to go “off script” with a meta-joke or get into the weeds of fantasy body humor, he’s right there with us, and in just a few sessions with no video and playing with all strangers he’s gotten a few really big belly laughs out of the whole group which is no small feat. I’m new to 2e so I can’t be 100% on his systems mastery, but he seems super strong there as well and at the very least he’s been patient and helpful for me as I learn the fundamentals. Really 11/10; you won’t regret going with Jay.
What I like most about this GM is that he plays all the NPCs in his world with intention; everybody needs something and it feels like a living place. His voice work is fun and he goes the extra distance with atmospheric score and other fun sound effects to lay in the mood.
Brooke is such a fun GM, with ridiculously sublime goblins and orcs, but more than that, she combines the deep knowledge of a systems expert with an infinite patience for beginners. She's great with lines and veils, and is always very responsive to any questions anyone in the group has, even in her off time. Really, a great storyteller with a big heart and brain. Could not recommend her more highly.
