About Dash, Your Friendly Neighborhood DM
Hail and well met! My name is Dash, and I'd love to help you run your next tabletop session! What was once a passing weekend hobby with my friends quickly became over 15 years of TTRPG experience, with 8 years as a highly recommended DM. With a background in theatre direction and project management, I love being a storyteller just as much as I enjoy creating safe, organized, and fun spaces for my players. Every session is LGBT-friendly, and my fellow neurodivergents are welcomed and encouraged to join! Some examples of what to expect from my games: - A bard that specializes in death metal - A pocket dimension that very closely resembles a 1950s American diner - Multiple chase scenes, some of which have definitely included a T-Rex and a kraken - NPCs with the worst Scottish accents in all of history Come join in on the fun! You can reach me here or on Discord at BubbaGrizz. If you have a group of people or a campaign idea in mind, please feel free to reach out to me! I would be happy to host your session and bring these ideas to life.

I became a GM because
I enjoy building worlds and storytelling for my friends!
I got started GMing...
in college with a group of close friends. When I realized that my friends were willing to play D&D with me, but none of them were willing to lead the session, I decided to step up and try my hand at it. After 10yrs of experience with various campaigns and groups, I think I'm getting the hang of it!
When I'm not running games I'm...
usually gaming on Discord or reading into other tabletop systems to explore. Many of my puzzles and game mechanics come from elements of game design and video game aesthetics. You might even recognize a few tropes if you look closely enough!
How Dash, Your Friendly Neighborhood DM runs games
I favor a narrative-driven session with a balance of both combat and roleplay. Puzzles and riddles are my forte, and I have a penchant for "smart" combats with alternative win conditions and enemies that know what they're doing.

My favorite trope is...
the classic misdirection that leads to a shocking reveal! The thief was in the building the whole time, the lord of the castle was actually a shapeshifter, the spy had defected to the other side, etc. I love keeping my party on their toes and keeping the plot fresh.
My games focus on...
telling a story with the help of my players, with a blend of rich narrative and epic action.
Rules are...
more like guidelines, since the most important thing is to have fun at the table!
Dash, Your Friendly Neighborhood DM's ideal table
If you enjoy getting into a really good book, you will appreciate the narrative work I put into my sessions. We can have some heavy, dramatic moments at the table, but there are plenty of laughs and gags present as well. My table is a safe space for everyone, and I put great effort into the comfort and sensitivity of my players. If you enjoy those epic "superhero" moments at the table, I invite you to join me for a session so we can see just how incredible your character can be!

I love it when a player
comes to me with a crazy idea for their character and wants to incorporate it into our sessions. This game is just as much for you as it is for me, and I wholeheartedly welcome player contributions and suggestions. More feedback means more engagement, and I'm always happy to hear from my players!
I think metagaming...
can be harmless and even beneficial at times, but there is a line where it becomes cumbersome and detrimental to the players and the session. You happen to know the exact stats for a tree blight offhand... no biggie. But if you're telling another PC what spells they should be prepping... not cool.
My table is not the place for...
passive aggressive comments, spoilsports, sore losers, or minors. My games are for players aged 18 and up, and I take the safety and comfort of my table very seriously. If you have any issues with a player or with myself, I invite you to speak with me directly to resolve the issue.
