About Lord Oizaka
Hi! My name is Varia, I am a paid GM for TTRPGs for two years now. I started this hobby with playing DnD, but the first system that I GM'd was Dark Heresy 2e. I DM a lot of games both in person and online. I am a huge fan of Warhammer 40k and World of Darkness, and I love exchanging perspectives on those worlds and discussing shared TTRPG experiences with people :D

I became a GM because
I couldn't find a GM that would run systems that i want to play :D I had oversaturation with DnD and decided that I want a break to play something else. I have then discovered a passion for GMing after trying for the first time
My favorite shows/movies are
I absolutely love 'Firefly' for its structure and storytelling and recently watched 'Andor' which I adore for similar reasons I don't really watch full-length movies, but like LOTR
My favorite system of all Time is
As much as I love old Warhammer systems, I absolutely adore Savage Worlds for its flexibility. I was introduced to it after a campaign where players had troubles with system, and Savage Worlds became our saving grace. Its fun (exploding dice!!) + easy + gives opportunities to buld your character
How Lord Oizaka runs games
The usual TTRPG systems that I use are quite heavy-ruled, but that's not the focus of my games. Even with systems that are hard to understand mechanically, I seek to give players a narrative experience above all else. My games are focused on roleplaying and storytelling aspects of the game. I make personal quests for everyone, try to make a world that lives when players aren't looking and give most NPCs the spark of life that makes all of them unique and loveable. My games are challenging, but not impossibly challenging - I balance encounters around players and their characters, what they are able and unable to do. Despite dark worlds that I have in my games, I am actually a very kind GM that lets a lot of things pass because it would be cool or interesting for the story we are telling.

I once ran a session...
of Call of Cthulhu on a convention, near a loud main scene, with a lot of background noise and music, without chairs, to random people. still had the atmosphere of fear at the end ;)
My favorite trope is...
I love mentors!!! I think that it's a really flexible trope that can both help the players and damage them. Or do both if done right. It also creates a lot of emotional scenes :) a lot of possibilities out of this one

I love it when a player
Comes to me between sessions with their ideas about their character + the world and how they connect to it. It really adds depth to roleplaying, lets me understand characters better and gives me food for my thoughts and new ideas that i think we will both like
I think min/maxing...
is absolutely fine. Even encouraged. Personally, I always minmax :D If it doesn't hurt the character you want to play, then why not? It will be easier for me as a GM, i will know what you are capable of and won't be afraid to give you difficult encounters
