About Shawn
I've been playing and running (mostly running) TTRPGs for over 40 years. I like a wide variety of games and styles, from rules-heavy crunch-fests, like Shadowrun and Ars Magica to story games that have almost no rules, like Fiasco or Alice is Missing. I run an inclusive and welcoming table, and I expect the same from my players.

I ran my first game...
At the age of 10, for a group full of uninterested classmates. A good time was had by none!
I started running games because...
I love the collaborative storytelling that only RPGs can provide.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Thinking about running games (also, working and sleeping).
How Shawn runs games
I like to run character-driven games with strong narrative elements, when I can. But I'm also comfortable with a stand-alone dungeon crawl. The most important thing is to work with the players to figure out what we all expect from the game, and then try to make sure everyone is getting what they wanted. I usually do a Session Zero, or at least devote part of the first session to establishing expectations and boundaries (safety tools are a must!), and for ongoing campaigns, I get feedback regularly.

I deal with rules issues by...
Keeping the game moving, if possible. We can follow up later, if we're not sure we did things by the book.
Rules are...
Guidelines, not sacred texts.
Shawn's ideal table
At my table, we welcome people from all walks of life. We share the spotlight, and are fans of each other. We work together to tell the best story we can for the group as a whole, not just the most outgoing players.

I am for a vibe that's...
Cooperative and collaborative. We're all in this together!
My perfect party mix is
Diverse. I'm as vanilla as they come, so I like to find players that bring a mix of flavors to the group.
