About Sam Richardson

Hi, I'm Sam! I'm an award-nominated GM and player who's been enjoying tabletop games since being introduced to them in middle school. I've been running games for players both old and new since 2015, and have completed several multi-year campaigns, as well as a string of shorter games. I was currently the GM of "Genre Space", a sci-fi anthology actual-play show, and I have been a regular performer on shows including as the GM of "Pest Control (Monster of the Week, 2018-2025), a player on "Hijinks & Handlebars" (Kids on Bikes, 2018-2020), and a guest on both "$2 Creature Feature" (2021-2026), and “The Monster’s Playbook” (2025). I have experience running D&D 5e, Daggerheart, Monster of the Week, Beam Saber, Kids on Bikes, Kids on Brooms, Monsterhearts, Icarus, Alice is Missing, The Ground Itself, Blades in the Dark, The Quiet Year, Dungeon World, Good Society, Heart: The City Beneath, Mythic Bastionland, Mothership, and more. I'd love to help make your next campaign unforgettable!

I got started GMing...

...after being recruited into an older kid's D&D 4e campaign with his brother in middle school. My character died in the first session, and I've been hooked ever since!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

...D&D 5e (the stalwart classic!), Monster of the Week (the system that fits like a glove!), and The Ground Itself (the indie sleeper!)

How Sam Richardson runs games

My passions are for creating player-driven, role-playing-forward games with a strong narrative backing where everyone can feel comfortable at the table. I love to introduce new people to the wonderful world of tabletop games!

I love it when a player

...takes an action knowing it will be bad for their character, but fun for the story!
