About Runsten

Hi I’m Runsten. I am a storydriven GM that has run TTRPGs since 2019. My favorite systems are Dungeons and Dragons and Daggerheart, but I also have experience in more narrative systems like Thirsty Sword Lesbians and Wanderhome. I have ran both published adventures and created my own homebrew worlds. In my games I love to create the story collaboratively with my players. I always incorporate players backstories into the story and create evocative scenes where the players choices matter. My improv background makes every session memorable by making the world react to the choices through the power of yes-and. My table follows the rule of cool where rules have their place to set the guidelines, but if a player makes an exciting decision we follow the fiction, roll the dice and see where the story goes. I want to foster and inclusive table that is welcome to new and seasoned players alike. TTRPGs are an awesome form to express yourself and I want to foster a safe environment to have fun at my table.

How Runsten runs games

My GM style is best defined as storydriven and rule of cool. I emphasize focus on roleplay and incorporating the characters backstories into the story. Cool battles are a core part of the story to heighten the tension. But what makes a challenging encounter even more enticing - a villain that matters to your story. The rules and the system serve to tell a cool collaborative story, but player choices and the fiction are always the main focus. I play by Rule of Cool and love when my players make bold choices rewarding them with cool cinematic moments. The dice may of course decide the outcome, but in a storydriven game both a success or a failure can lead into an exciting moment for your character.

My favorite trope is...

a deal with the devil. 😈✨

My games focus on...

roleplay and the characters' stories. With some cool battles, too. ;)

Rules are...

there to serve the story. If your choice makes it epic we'll roll the dice and see what happens.

Runsten's ideal table

At my table we want to tell a story together. You are excited to roleplay as your character and want to weave their story into the narrative. We play to find out what happens and making bold choices is always rewarded. Epic battles with story stakes are included in the menu. But social options are always on the table - and sometimes you can seduce the dragon. They just might ask for your soul for collateral. When the drama gets high we remember to check in on each other. Safety is key to make the in-game drama fun. I want to foster an inclusive table where we celebrate our multitude of identities both as players and in our characters.
