About PsychoDM
Started playing D&D in 1983, then DM'ing in 1984. Over the 40+ years since, I have played & run several TTRPG platforms, including (but not limited to): all editions of D&D (except 4e), Pathfinder, Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Rifts, Star Wars, Star Frontiers (briefly & long, long ago), as well as several much smaller platforms, such as Macho Women with Guns, Car Wars, etc. I am in the process of trying to develop my own world (which has been building & expanding in my head since my teens) into a publishable campaign setting. I am joined in this endeavor by another pro DM on here, Vodkard Spellbard. Hopefully, we will have enough ready by end of year to be able to present it as a concept for a Kickstarter listing. This world, as of now, will be somewhat system agnostic & able to be used with multiple platforms. It will also include new races, classes, & items unique to the setting. My day job is as a professional handyman contractor, but I am looking to expand into profession Game Mastering for 2 primary reasons: 1. To supplement my income (especially when contracts are scarce) 2. I'm getting to be an old bastard & have no clue how much longer my body will tolerate climbing around in attics or lugging building materials & tools around! My moniker, PsychoDM, originated when I first started DM'ing & mistakenly thought that is was the DM *versus* the Players. (I had a LOT of TPK's in the beginning! LOL) BIGOTRY & HATE SPEECH WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AT MY TABLES!!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
D&D 3.3/Pathfinder 1e World of Darkness Either Rifts or Champions
My favorite system of all Time is
D&D 3.5/Pathfinder 1e, which are essentially the same. (iykyk) To me, this was the system that allowed the greatest flexibility in terms of character concept/creation versus the more "cookie cutter" systems of now.
When I'm not running games I'm...
My primary gig is as a Professional Handyman Contractor. I have been running my own little shop since 2016 in the Iowa City, Iowa, USA area.
How PsychoDM runs games
I prefer to run roleplay heavy campaigns with character development, using combat as the extra feature. I can do One-Shots, longer structured campaigns, or sandbox style "make it up as we go" campaigns with no predetermined length. (I actually prefer these kinds of campaigns, & will largely allow the Players to guide the story & react to them, with just a few preset story arcs in mind to keep things moving.)

My games focus on...
Roleplay & storytelling. Outside of pregens, most of my campaigns will one primary story/goal, & severall smaller chapters or side quests to get there.
Rules are...
Guidelines. I will follow them, as written, for most things, but if I feel an adjustment or alteration makes for a better game, I'll go that way. Every rulebook states clearly that the RAW are to be considered guidelines, not set-in-stone laws.
When it comes to voices
If you can do a unique voice (or some other custom thing) for your characters, great. But I don't require it. Myself, I can do some as needed (for play-by-post, I will likely use AI voices), but not too many that are particularly unique.
PsychoDM's ideal table
I use RAW for the most part for most aspects. But, particularly for character concepts, if you can provide a backstory or reasoning to support it, I will likely be willing to work with you! I like unique, imaginative, characters & players.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Roleplay Outside of structured pregenerated campaigns, I use combat fairly sparingly (1 or 2 per session at most, if at all). I like to see characters develop, expanding concepts, & building on the original.
I love it when a player
Make me think! I love it when a Player does something new, creative, unexpected, & forces me to adjust to them.
My table is not the place for...
Hate speech, bigotry, ethnic slurs WILL NOT be tolerated! (Real world. If your character hates Dwarves or Elves, etc as part of their concept in-game, fine. But not outside of the game!) You will receive one warning. After that, you will be cut *without refund!*
