About Johnny Possum

Hey there! I’m Possum, your guide to adventures full of surprises, laughs, and unforgettable moments. I’ve been rolling dice since the days of D&D 3.5, and what I love most about DMing is creating stories that evolve with your choices. Whether it’s ridiculous nonsense or epic heroics, I’m here to make sure everyone feels like a vital part of the journey. My style is a mix of gritty fantasy and Monty Python-esque shenanigans, with a healthy dose of the Rule of Cool to make sure you get those epic, cinematic moments. I love tailoring story elements to highlight each character, making you feel useful and important to the events unfolding around you. Exploration and combat take center stage in my games, but I’m always working to improve roleplay, bringing unique NPCs and a dash of voice acting to the table. I'm looking to run exciting games with interesting people while sharpening my skills as a DM. Every session is an opportunity to create something unforgettable together, and I can’t wait to see where the dice take us.

How Johnny Possum runs games

I’ll be upfront: I’m not the kind of DM who has every rule memorized or every detail perfectly planned out—but that’s because I prioritize fun and storytelling over rigid adherence to the rulebook. My games are about creating memorable adventures where creativity and player input shape the journey. My table leans more toward combat and exploration, but I’m actively working to improve my roleplay skills. So, bring your characters to life and challenge me—I’m here to grow alongside you. I follow the Rule of Cool because the goal is to have a great time, and sometimes that means bending the rules to make something epic happen.

I deal with rules issues by...

Rendering a judgement in the moment to keep the game moving, then looking up RAW after then session to determine how to implement it moving forward

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

I dunno, probably some amateur with a flair for the dramatic and more imagination than actual skill?

Rules are...

A guideline more than an absolute. Sometimes people do something cool that raw Wouldn't allow for, so in those situations, RoC wins every time

I think it's a red flag when players...

Doesn't share the damn spotlight. It's *our* story, not just *your* story.

I think metagaming...

Is, at it's core, pretty much unavoidable. Players often know things their character wouldn't, and there's going to be some trickle-down because of it. Just don't let it be a constant habit, or lean on it like being borderline omniscient in is a character trait.

My table is not the place for...

Racism, bigotry, or sexism.
