About Christopher Lirette (Prank5ter)

Hi there! My name is Chris. Just your friendly neighborhood GM. I am ADHD, a Dad of 3 boys, a full-time musician on the weekends, and I freaking love TTRPG's. I got my start with a game called Paranoia and have been playing/GMing a variety of TTRPGS since 2004. I am now 40 years old and live in a van down by the river. You can check out me GMing some of my friends here https://www.youtube.com/@BigD20Energy/playlists - Requiem's Wrath/Vigil's Remnant are PF2e - Road Runners Run is a modified Blades in the Dark System - EU crew Plays Down the Rabbit Hole is Delta Green. I have led games for all ages, different groups, and people. I got my Mom for instance to do a Delta Green campaign (horror) with my little sisters and a few friends. I have led games for students with developmental difficulties, ASD, or ADHD like myself. My GM philosophy is: - Offer a safe place for folks to play (including from other players if necessary) - Facilitate the story and immerse my players. - Keep the game moving and flowing without slowing down. - Empower my players to help. My GM Tools: - I have used Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, and Foundry. I prefer Foundry. - Syrinscape for immersive audio. - Character voices Likes: - Democracy - Inclusion - Deep Dish Chicago Pizza - Kindness - Creativity - The Chicago Bears Dislikes: - Fascism - MAGA - Gatekeeping - Power Gamers - When people use META to inform their chracters decisions - Douche bags - Bully's - Yellow Mustard

I got started GMing...

In 2010...ish? My first ever system I GM'd was Serenity based in the Firefly universe. We had that game go on for a year or so. I then branched into Mutants & Masterminds, which is a superhero themed TTRPG. I eventually found my home with Paizo and Pathfinder 1e and now 2e.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Ruthless (oof), creative, and entertaining - My friend Not Irish Engaging, Creative, and Balanced -Vindo Ruthless but fair, Chaotic, Creative - My friend EZ I feel like ruthless needs some context...

When I'm not running games I'm...

Performing music at various wineries, vineyards, restaurants, and bars in my area as that is my full time job. I also like to write music, play video games, hangout with my kids, and hangout with my girlfriend. Right now we are watching, "The Blacklist." James Spader is sooo good.

How Christopher Lirette (Prank5ter) runs games

I fuckin love Roleplay. I remember GMing my group for War for the Crown once and making this one guy truly detestable through a high society party event. OOC after the RP they were like, "We're totally going to kill that guy right?" and everyone nodding in agreement. One of my favorite moments ever. I also love setting the scene and immersing my players in the scenario thats going on. Whether it is the horror vibe of Delta Green, barely making it by from a Post Apocalyptic setting, or fantasy adventures with spells sailing by or swords clashing against one another. I love using immerisve sound like that from Syrinscape as well as my own uploads from other sound effect creators. I love hard challenging combats AND awarding players for creative uses of spells, equipment, attacks, etc. in the midst of all of it. I love being surprised by my players and in turn surprising them. I stick to the rules, but for me I abide by this philosophy. Rules are good servants but terrible masters. If somebody does something cool enough and it requires a bit of a fudge of the rule, I am gonna stick to the cool thing. Finally, I hate slow combats. I as the GM am about keeping the game going. So, I have a heavy focus on helping combats flow. I expect spell casters to know their spells, people to know what they wanna do, and keep the game moving. I will fuck up a rule. Its not an if, its a when. Ill own up to it and award players a boon, +2 to a roll, or something to make it up to them.

I deal with rules issues by...

Making a decision in the moment, so that we don't bog the game down with litigating rules. Unless it is a huge moment or issue, I want to keep it moving. So, I will ask a player to look up the rule/forums/erratas when its not their turn, and provide the answer later. I feel this works the best.

I once ran a session...

With a bunch of pastor friends at a convention we were having by secretly taking over an unused room and playing for a few hours. It was a good time. We played Pathfinder and the group was called, Pastorfinder.

When it comes to voices

I fucking love voices and accents. Yes, please.

Christopher Lirette (Prank5ter)'s ideal table

I want everyone to feel welcome at my table, new people, veterans, women, and men. I know that not everyone is comfortable right off the bat and sometimes it takes time to build a rapport with players and the players with one another. I am patient and love talking about the games I run. I vibe with players who are creative, like to RP, and are willing to put themselves out there. Jokes and silliness happen at the table and I love it. And, I try to balance riffing off of some silly thing that happened with the story and game that is going on. My job as the GM is to prod us to keep going down the road. I love rule of Cool, but I also try to balance that with the mechanics and Rules as Writ, so we aren't straying to far from the base game mechanics. I am big on consent and letting players have autonomy over their own characters. With that said, if they got a family, romance, or something they love, thats is 100% in my purview as a GM to use within game for events, combats, scenarios, etc. If you are heavy on rules and let the book dictate everything, then I fear we will not be compatible. I invite you to find a game that will fulfill that need elsewhere. IMO sometimes a rule needs to be broken to have fun. And for me that is the chief objective.

Fun, balanced, friendly, but knows how to shift to being dramatic and serious when the right moment presents itself.

I love it when a player

Surprises me. Either I think I got em cornered and they get out of it or pull something out of their ass that totally catches me off guard. It delights me. I also love when players get into character and even shoot themselves in the foot, because its in their character. Bravo my friend.
