About Franklin West

Hi, My Name, is Franklin West I'm 27 and I've been playing TTRPG's for close to 15 years on and off now and, DM/GM'd for 5 of those years and I've come to deeply enjoy it. Even as a young kid I loved consuming Sci-fi and, Fantasy as much as possible so when I was introduced to D&D as teenager it really left its impression on me. Now over the last 5 years have come to DM/GM for newer players to the Hobbie of TTRPG's rather than being a player. While it's lot more work to tell a story as a GM/DM I've come to enjoy it more with each year of experience! The fun of unwrapping a new world with my players to see all the little details that make a TTRPG a unique experience is what I wish to continue here within this community to reach more new players looking to explore D&D or, other systems of play.

I got started GMing...

Because I wanted to get back into D&D after moving to a new area and, At the time I was the only one of my friends who knew how to play. Everyone was interested and so I stepped into that role and since have come to enjoy running a TTRPGs much more as playing them.

How Franklin West runs games

I would say I'm a DM that fallows the "rule of cool" and by that, I mean I love it when players think outside of the box for a solution that surprises me. I would also say I love a dramatic moment as a GM/DG. I do typically reward players that read handouts carefully or are paying close attention to plot twist or conspiracy/ mystery in a story or campaign. I'm super for player agency and really enjoy the collaboration with players on characters or what kind of story they want to tell and play in. I typically enjoy diving in the story/setting just as much as my players while guiding them though new and exciting worlds! I Typically play on the virtual tabletop Alchemy as i feel it really lends the tools to play really well to new players as well as experienced players who are more used to IRL TTRPGs. As for role play I love getting in character for a role of an NPC and will certainly roleplay with an invested player. My Biggest no-no's at my table that will get you a warning or immediately banning you for my table would probably be: -Intently making another player or myself uncomfortable with your actions (in and outside the game). -Bullying or signaling out another at the table because of their: Race, sexual preference, or religion. -Being extremely rude or belligerent to myself or other players over what happens in the game (remember were here to have fun! if you're not please say so in a polite way.)

what we make them and flexible! At are tables we get to decide if a rule is getting in the way of fun. If me and my group agree to change something or use optional rules, I'm always very receptive to it in the sake of enjoying ourselves at the Session.

I'm down for making them and, will actively encourage my players to use them if they are comfortable.

I highly welcome the fallowing types of players: -the theater kid who loves role play so much you call them by their characters name OUTSIDE the game. -the forever GM/DM who probably knows just as much if not more than me about the game system were playing who always has a crazy idea. -the note taker who's a master detective always keeping me on my toes when being sneaky. - the new player who's just starting out who Is ready for all the wild adventures I have in store!

I love it when a player

Takes notes! it really keeps me on my toes as GM as well as giving me a good reason to reward a player with secret information or another sort of prize. The look on a players face when they find out the big mystery or, the villains larger plan is priceless!
