About me
As a DM I have a heavy focus on making sure the players feel like the main characters. My goal is that players walk away from each session feeling that they have contributed to a story, not just played a game. I have been running D&D games for several years and have grown into a style that prioritizes story over dice. I tend to follow RAW very closely, but will happily bend it if it serves the plot.
GM Style
I love good roleplay and will work characters into the story of the campaign. I enjoy writing deep lore, allowing players to not only uncover but contribute to the world's history and lore. I often replace module NPCs with more dynamic characters, giving them unique voices, believable drives, and complex relationships to the players. A standard drow matriarch becomes the evil stepmother of a warrior princess. An evil hobgoblin chief becomes the man who killed the edgy rogue's family.

Pen is an incredible GM. He is very good at setting the scene, creating interesting and memorable NPCs, and providing encounters with multiple avenues for interaction. This all helps the players feel both immersed in the world and story and as though they have true agency. He balances puzzles and social encounters with combat well, so that players with different strong suits all have a chance to shine. Pen knows the rules better than anyone else I know, but he can also be open to changing things for players if it makes sense. I have always felt safe and respected while playing in his game.
