About Graham
Greetings Adventurers! I go by many names some more infamous than others. Some know me as Graham Moran, the everyday guy. Others know me as Judge/GM Mograhm Deadbraid. And then there is the personality of Cap'n Skarvin "Greybeard" Roberts. I have been playing TTRPG's since the mid-80s. Yes I am that old man who keeps coming back for more. I started playing in a creepy basement in Central Wisconsin, hanging out with my cousin and his buddies playing D&D. Life and passions took over and I stepped away from gaming off and on over the years. Then "The Year We Don't Speak Of" arrived. I had some health issues that relegated me to a recliner. Being unable to move I started reading TTRPG boks again and got the bug to start running games again. I ran a number of D&D campaigns for a couple of groups. Once things changed up and public gatherings became a thing again, I was blessed with the opportunity to take over a gaming group at a local brewery. That quickly took off and after a few years I handed off control of that group. I am now somehow credited with having been or being current leadership for three Denver gaming groups: Dungeons, Dragons and Drafts; Dragon Capsule Keep; and most recently The Netherdome Dreamstorm. These groups have been about the passion of sharing the love of TTRPGs with others. I am currently a Road Crew Judge for Goodman Games (DCC/XCrawl/Lankhmar) as well as a Quartermaster for Pirate Borg games. May the Dice Gods bless Thee!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
In no particular order I would bring these 3 systems: 1. Dungeon Crawl Classics for the amazing shenanigans! 2. Pirate Borg: Because what would be better than learning to survive on a desert island than from a pirate. 3. Eat the Reich: Simple. I hate Nazis and could get my angst out killing them!
My favorite books are
The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. Marcus Aurelius Meditations
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing Frisbee golf with my wife and kids, reading, homebrewing beer, painting minis for other TTRPGs, harassing my cat Bodrahn, playing the tin whistle and native american flute, smoking a pipe, or just staring off into space.
How Graham runs games
Players who join my games can expect shenanigans and capers of epic scale. I look for players who love the art of roleplaying. In many of my games, the more you RP a situation, the higher the likelyhood of earning rewards both for your PC and for you as a player. Ultimately, I love players to be very narrative in their RPs. The more you tell me the story of what you desire the more fun I have crafting a story around your PCs. I will run modules that are part of current gaming systems although I add a bit of a "Sandbox" style of play to those modules. Depending on the platform I am using at the time, I will use either Theatre of the Mind or actual maps. If it is desired by players that I have maps I will do my best to provide for that. I am old school when it comes to playing so even when running games using Foundry VTT I commonly roll physical dice. I am willing to let players decide how they desire to roll dice using VTTs. Even in-person games I allow digital dice if it is desired with minor stipulations of digital interaction. (To be discussed in Session Zero gatherings.) I am here to have fun and I want all players at my table to have the same amount of fun as well!

My games focus on...
Player interaction and fun! The more creative you are as a player the more fun I have as a GM. The more fun I have as a DM the more interesting our continued interactions will be. Keep it fun for all is my rule!
Rules are...
There to be used in game play but if there is a "House Rule" change that seems appropriate to the game I am willing to consider those changes. Sometimes I follow RAW only because things are kept smoother that way. But like I said before, give me a good reason for things to change.
When it comes to voices
I sometimes use voices. I am slowly learning different voices for different PCs but I will admit that I tend to differ to an English/Scottish/Irish accent. Or I pull out the "old" Wisconsin Mid-Westerner I grew up using. You are welcome to use voices as well. Just be respectful.
Graham's ideal table
When sitting at a communal table at the headquarters of the Cracked Bell Inn Adventurer's Syndicate, every adventurer, new and old, will find a welcoming cast of characters. We are all gathering here for one reason and one reason only, to go explore the realms outside the darkened door and hopefully come back with a little extra coin in our pouches, along with maybe a good scar here or there for stories to tell our children and grand-children, if we live that long. My tables consist mainly of theatre of the mind settings. I will sometimes run a game using a VTT as well so players have maps. As an old school GM, I love to players to help write their own story as we play, even if we are using a published module. Players who make the story theirs, may my table. The general vibe at my table is "restrained chaos". This might be going smoothly, may get out of hand, but will ultimately return to a semblance of calm, organized chaos. If players aren't ultimately having fun then there is no reason to be at the table. Fun comes first! As long as you can recognize and work with this then my tables are wide open.

I am for a vibe that's...
fun loving, maybe a little chaotic, and super creative. I look for a vibe that is all-inclusive and welcoming to both new and old players. If my players can make me laugh or just shake my head in wonder at their behavior then the mission has been accomplished.
I love it when a player
roleplays some sort of interaction well. This could be between the player and an NPC, social interaction or otherwise. I love a player that describes how they damage an enemy on a successful attack. Don't just give me "I hit and it takes X HP of damage. Tell me how you hit and what happens!
My table is not the place for...
Bigotry, racism, political grandstanding, disrespect for fellow human beings! If you want to try any of these things at my table you won't last long!
