About Mike Siscoe
I’ve been immersed in Dungeons & Dragons for years, both as a player and behind the screen, crafting stories that balance epic adventure with unforgettable character moments. My games blend rich narrative, dynamic roleplay, and meaningful choices—whether you’re negotiating with a dragon, unraveling a mystery, or accidentally adopting yet another chaotic NPC. My style leans heavily into collaborative storytelling. I believe the best moments in D&D come from the unexpected, which is why I live by the philosophy of “yes, and.” Your wild ideas aren’t obstacles—they’re opportunities. I’ll meet your creativity with my own, building a world that reacts, evolves, and occasionally spirals into delightful madness.

My favorite shows/movies are
If it's not Star Wars, it's crap. Of all the hills to die on, this is the one I choose. It's not up for debate. It's fact.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Funny. Engaging. Improv
When I'm not running games I'm...
trapped by a cat in my lap. It's not my fault, you know the law, I cannot move. I am a very attentive and caring father who is also raising a 3rd generation D&D player. I also preach the AI gospel.
How Mike Siscoe runs games
At my table, you can expect: Strong roleplay focus with room for every player to shine Balanced gameplay—tense combat, meaningful choices, and story-driven consequences A welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable contributing A touch of humor (okay, sometimes a lot of humor) alongside the drama

I prep by
Overprepping. I know everything because I have been living and breathing the campaign for days, weeks, months. I know every option the player is going to make, except that one spell. The one that destroys 8 months of hard work. The spell that was so DAMN obvious, how could I miss that!!
Rules are...
Rules are for the weak, and I am a very weak man. I need rules to cope. One of those rules is the Rule of Cool. If you can imagine it, I can figure out the DC, and we can make it happen. As long as it doesn't blow up the world or make a great story into a laugh.
Mike Siscoe's ideal table
My ideal table is flat with four legs, nice wood finish, or maybe a classic card table right out of the garage, still dusty for that retro feel. If you laughed and understood that I was making a joke, my table is for you.

I love it when a player
...leans into the flaws of the character. Even if you're lawful good, you can still be flawed, the more the better. Lean into what makes their character interesting. Not just flawed but FLAWED.
I think metagaming...
Hard to settle this. As GM, I should be able to settle this without issue, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment things play out because it was a great bit of storytelling and Nat 20s. I don't want to retcon that moment because the Monk in the party forgot to retrieve his rope 2 sessions ago.
