About Marc (Marc of Mastery)
Hi, everyone. I go by Marc and my pronouns are he/him. I have been a game master since 2016 and I started in pathfinder 1st edition but fell in love with 5th edition. I love new players; I think I have played more often with new players than veteran players. Best advice for new players. You don’t need to know how the whole game works just your character and as long as you try, a good GM will work with you on what you don’t know. I am comfortable running larger games with up to 7 players and small games even one on one. I am a fan of the role-playing aspect of the game and giving my characters and NPC character and sometimes voices. And I encourage you to try it out. Even if they are juvenile, they are still fun to do. I like playing both homebrew campaigns and premade modules. If you want to know a little more about me as a person, I am a US Navy Veteran. I was a nuclear machinist mate on a submarine for 6 years. I hated it. I am much happier now as a student of Biology in Florida using the GI bill. (worth it) In a home, I own with my wife and cat. I love traveling. I have been to Scotland, Dubai, Bahrain, Greece, Toulon (France), and all up and down the east coast of Australia. I am an LGBTQ+ Ally, I will not tolerate anything else but respect for those aspects of any person including the trans part and those who identify as non-binary. Alright now, what are you waiting for? Adventure is out there.

How Marc (Marc of Mastery) runs games
I am a role player and storyteller at heart. I like doing voices and verbal ticks. I think combat should be more interesting than just a pool of hp you have to widdle down. And most importantly as a biologist, I really enjoy wilderness exploration. Expect at least one weird animal fact per session. My stories usually have arcs and are a political or historical allegory with a fantastical, fun, or goofy spin.

My games focus on...
the story that only occurs GM and Players come together.
When it comes to voices
simple changes in inflection or cadence are often more effective than big ones.
I deal with rules issues by...
considering the spirit of the rule and the theme of the situation and finding the middle ground between the 2.
Marc (Marc of Mastery)'s ideal table
I prefer role playing to roll playing. If you are not invested in the story or themes I to me the game is dead. Just like in the fantasy and sci-fi the fantastical elements are best when they are representative of something more material. I use rules like a more organized version of those play pretend games kids play. That is to say that when things get boring or unfun then they either are broken or we play something else. All that being said min/maxing is a real source of joy for me as long as you don't lose the character underneath it all.

My table is not the place for...
making stories and memories
I love it when a player
finds a better solution to a problem than I had considered possible using something not on their character sheet.
I think min/maxing...
is fine as long as it doesn't pigeon hole a character into a 2d character.
