About Leony (LC)
Greetings adventurers! My name is LC, and I am an avid lover of board, video, and tabletop roleplaying games. My favorite aspect of being a Game Master is the same reason I got a Film degree and am writing my own book: I love a good story. Back in 2017, when I was first introduced to D&D, it was the unique storytelling potential of TTRPGs that hooked me in. The balance between a player's imagination, the mechanics of the game, and the roll of the dice is why I could never fudge a roll as a player or GM. I play fair because I believe it's this combination of factors conjoined with the personalities of players/characters that make these games perfect for lasting emotional investment, a powerful conduit for joy, and my ideal storytelling medium. Prior to joining StartPlaying, I was the Game Master of 2 weekly D&D campaigns and 1 monthly campaign. Each campaign was 2-3 years of incredible stories and fond memories shared by my players. In addition to those long-form games, over the past 7 years I've run more Oneshots than I can count in both 5.0e and 5.5e D&D. At this point, I know the core rules by heart, so I can focus on providing an enjoyable experience for everyone at the table without having to spend ages flipping through the rulebooks. My priority is to make sure everyone is having fun at the table, and we all walk away having had an experience to remember. So, whether you're a newbie, intermediate, or veteran of the world's greatest roleplaying game, I'm the DM for you.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
D&D 5 or 5.5e, an internet-connected computer system, and a good ol' deck of cards.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
My. Favorite. GM. <3
When I'm not running games I'm...
Planning my next game(s) or creating homebrew content. I consider GMing my full-time job, so I put nonstop effort into my craft. Hopefully that effort shows :)
How Leony (LC) runs games
As a GM, I enjoy running games that are custom-tailored to the people at my table. My personal preferences come second to providing an enjoyable experience for my players, but they are as follows... Combat: I enjoy a good balance of combat and roleplay in my games, but that balance largely depends on the group's tastes. I scale difficulty based on group size, player experience, optimization levels, in-world location, and narrative placement. Roleplay: I highly encourage roleplay as I love to experiment with different NPCs and see the world from other perspectives. As the GM, it's on me to embody the world and its characters, but do note that, like player characters, they are not my real personality. I am fine with PVP and romances if all parties consent. Exploration: I love to create an atmosphere. My in-person games often feature extravagant terrain sets that I honestly struggle to replicate in an online format, which leads me to believe this is my weakest pillar. That said, I still work with world maps, random encounters, hex crawls, and theater of the mind where necessary. Campaigns: I usually like to base the campaigns I run on the interests and playstyles of my players, and often work with players to craft deep narratives surrounding their characters. Oneshots: We have far less time to focus on developing characters during oneshots, so I appreciate when players start their characters off with at least one tie to the larger story or another character's backstory.

I deal with rules issues by...
having brief discussions. I know most D&D rules by heart, but I can be and have been wrong before. I won't really be a hardass with my rulings unless we're running late, we've had multiple discussions already, or you've been caught intentionally cheating. I do reserve final say over rules as the GM.
If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
me! (I graduated from college with a Film degree). Admittedly though, this Bachelor of Arts has since found his preferred medium of storytelling right here with you lovely folks.
Rules are...
there for a reason. Don't strive to break, subvert, or dodge them, because they are there to provide a structure for us to thrive within. Kindly refrain from all forms of cheating including dice fudging, not tracking resources/Concentration, or using RAW-abusive builds like infinite spell combos.
Leony (LC)'s ideal table
I strive to make a table fit to my players’ interests. Most of my adventures listed on StartPlaying are custom content that I have prepared prior to player interaction, but for Private Bookings, I’m more than willing to build everything custom from the ground up. My Private Booking rate is $5 per player for each hour of gameplay with session lengths set within a range of 1-8 hours. The longer I have to work with, the more we can do in our time together, and the less I have to rush things along.

I love it when a player
is invested in their character and in the game as a whole. We're all here to have fun as a group, so the more you dive in head-first and help foster the engagement of your fellow party-members, the more fun we all have. I can only do so much before reaching the point of "you get out what you put in"
I think metagaming...
is unacceptable without story reasons, but an Open Secret's limits are at the affected player's discretion. For example, two players share their characters' affection for each other out of game, while in-game they don't know. With consent, this meta-info can be used to gently nudge the two together.
I think min/maxing...
is perfectly fine. Push the character creation rules to their limits if you'd like or don't. But, if it seems like something is too broken to be intentional (infinite hp, movement, spells, etc), I would much prefer you refrain. An optimized Druid/Barb multiclass is fine, but NOT a Coffeelock build.
