About Jesse Scott
Hi đź‘‹ I'm glad you're here. My name is Jesse Scott and in grade school my nickname was Messy Snot. I never minded because I thought it was funny too. I don't think it is anymore, so please just call me Jesse. Oh, and my pronouns are He/Him. I am a Gen X-er who was raised on 2e during the Satanic Panic, though I took a long time off of TTRPGs until maybe 2014 or so when I picked it up again, and was reminded of how much I love it. I have been a Professional GM and GMing at Cons for ~ two years, and have since run games for kids and adults, friends and strangers, and I do my best to provide a safe and democratic space at the table for everyone. Fun fact: I am also in the midst of publishing my first adventure module on DriveThruRPG and Itch... I'm really excited to make more!

When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing them (if i can... in a group or solo), or reading (about) them. Also cats. Food is good.
How Jesse Scott runs games
I love world building, intrigue, (geo)political realism, and old school dungeons... but also love to open up those worlds to the magic of collaborative story telling. I know and play and run a lot of different systems - some dark and crunchy, some light and fluffy, but I love empowering players (and characters) to bring their best selves to whatever mechanic is at the table currently. I have decades of experience with D&D, and still enjoy it, but have seen tables thrive while exploring different systems and I'd love to teach some of them to you!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Dennis Villeneuve.
I once ran a session...
where everyone had their eyes closed the whole time. no dice, no paper, just imagination.
Rules are...
guidelines and guardrails, but every once in a while its fun to jump into the abyss...

I love it when a player
speaks as their character, acts according to their characters interests, and engages with the world at large (especially when they instigate discoveries about the game world that I hadn't thought about yet!).
I think metagaming...
is hard to avoid, but unfortunate. But it can be made less of a concern with proper story telling techniques!
My table is not the place for...
Bigotry, Prejudice or Power dynamics. And no Grognards... listen, I love B/X Dungeon Crawls as much as the next person, but I also acknowledge that RPGs are an evolving art form that I think should be a safe place to explore and enjoy.
