About Rane
Hey! I’m Rane — a full-time Game Master and owner of The Death Save Society with a deep love for story-driven, character-focused tabletop RPGs. I’ve been running games for years across a wide range of systems, but no matter the ruleset, my focus is always the same: creating immersive worlds where player choices matter and characters are allowed to grow, fail, and shine. I specialize in cinematic, roleplay-forward campaigns that balance emotional storytelling with meaningful combat and player agency. I love weaving character backstories into the core narrative, designing memorable NPCs, and building moments that feel earned — whether that’s a quiet campfire conversation, a tense moral dilemma, or a high-stakes showdown that changes the world. My tables are welcoming, collaborative, and beginner-friendly. You don’t need to be an expert or a voice actor to play in my games — just someone who’s excited to engage with the story and respect the people at the table. I use safety tools, encourage open communication, and prioritize making sure everyone feels comfortable and included. Outside of the table, I run multiple long-form campaigns, one-shots, and live-play games, and I’m always experimenting with new ideas, settings, and systems. I love building worlds that feel alive and evolving, and I treat every campaign as a shared creative project between myself and my players. If you’re looking for a game where your character matters, your choices have weight, and the story remembers you, I’d love to have you at my table.

I got started GMing...
In 2013-2014 I had stumbled upon the Acquisitions Incorparted Podcast and was introduced to the wonderful stories and characters that can come to be while playing D&D. After talking to some friends about it we decided to give the game a shot and it's changed my life ever since.

How Rane runs games
I run story-driven, character-first tabletop games where your choices truly matter. My focus as a Game Master is creating immersive worlds that respond to player decisions, emotional roleplay, and creative problem-solving. If you give me a backstory, a goal, or a flaw, I will actively weave it into the narrative in meaningful ways. My games are narrative-forward and cinematic in tone. Sessions often feel like episodes of a TV series, with strong openings, memorable NPCs, and moments designed to spotlight each character. The story evolves based on the party’s actions — alliances shift, rumors spread, and consequences carry forward. Roleplay is a major focus at my table, though combat still plays an important role. Fights are purposeful, story-relevant, and designed to feel tense and cinematic rather than random or grindy. I value creativity and emotional stakes over pure optimization, and clever ideas are always encouraged. I prioritize a collaborative, inclusive table environment. New players are absolutely welcome, and experienced players are encouraged to lift others up rather than dominate the spotlight. I use safety tools and open communication to make sure everyone feels comfortable engaging with the story. Rules are important, but flow and fun come first. I aim to be fair, consistent, and transparent with rulings while allowing flexibility for great character moments. Many of my games explore themes of found family, identity, loss, hope, and growth — expect laughter, tension, and moments that stick with you long after the session ends.
Rane's ideal table
My ideal table is made up of players who are excited to collaborate, roleplay, and build a story together. This is a space for people who want to be part of a shared narrative — where everyone contributes, listens, and helps make each other’s moments shine. I’m looking for players who enjoy character-driven play. You don’t need to be a professional voice actor or seasoned roleplayer, but you should be willing to engage with the world, make choices in character, and explore how your character grows over time. Curiosity, emotional investment, and a willingness to take narrative risks go a long way at my table. Respect and kindness are non-negotiable. My ideal group is inclusive, welcoming, and supportive, where players feel safe expressing ideas, emotions, and creativity without fear of judgment. We share the spotlight, celebrate each other’s victories, and treat fellow players and the GM with respect both in and out of character. I value players who communicate openly. Life happens, mistakes happen, and misunderstandings happen — what matters is being willing to talk things through like adults. Collaboration doesn’t just apply to the story; it applies to the table itself. New players are absolutely welcome, as long as you’re eager to learn and participate. Experienced players are welcome too, especially those who enjoy mentoring others and lifting the group up rather than trying to “win” the game. Above all, my ideal table is made up of people who want to tell a memorable story together — laugh, cry, panic during bad dice rolls, and slowly become a found family, both in-game and out.
