About me

I grew up on D&D and have 25+ years of experience as both a player and a Game Master. I had four older brothers which is the perfect number for a DM and adventuring party. This also taught me that D&D is a cooperative storytelling game. Doing anything less means you'd get a dead arm. :) What interests me the most about TTRPGs is making the game personal for the characters in the story. There's a few philosophies on running games and I fall into the 'historical' camp of story telling. Which is that the story is discovered through play and not mapped out far in advanced. The story is about these characters, their struggles, their failures, and their victories. I have a degree in User Experience Design and love talking shop on mechanics and game design. As such I own far too many systems for my own good and enjoy reading and digesting how different people approach TTRPGs.

GM style

I think roleplay is a must for TTRPGs as there are several combat simulator games. I also don't think that combat should be separate from roleplay. Random encounters can happen but I prefer to build encounters around something beyond 'make the numbers 0'.
