About the adventure

Destiny is calling for heroes - will you answer? You and your fellow party members have all received a dream that warns of disaster and says that you are all that stands between the world and ruin. In order to stop the coming calamity, the Heroes of Destiny will journey across Tarkel, a continent that was once ruled by dragons but is now devoid of them, and the many Planes of Existence. Beware though, a powerful God and the cult he leads will fight you every step of the way. If you are ready, answer the call and become a Hero of Destiny! In this homebrew campaign based on D&D lore [specifically dragons and the module "Tyranny of Dragons"], players will start at Level 1 and climb their way up to Level 15 or higher depending on progression over 6 packed chapters with a lot of potential for powers and magical items as well.

About me

Hello, my name is Mikey! I’m a passionate geek that loves Dungeons and Dragons! I’ve been playing for a little more than 5 years with most of that serving as the DM for my own home-brew campaign. At my table, I prefer a relaxed approach to rules to not only allow easy entry for new players but to allow more room for imaginative problem solving and awesome combat moments. My favorite thing about D&D is sharing the hobby with others. This game has brought me so many fun memories, good friends, and creativity and I want to share that with others.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation will happen in one of three ways: 1. Use a provided Premade Character 2. Create a Character before Session 0 3. Create a Character at Session 0 The rules are as follows: 1. Must use D&DBeyond.com or at least have a digital sheet to share 2. Characters start at Level 1. 3. Any Ability Score generation method is ok. 4. Any officially published 5e materials are ok. [2014 OR 2024] 5. Homebrew is ok but we'll discuss it first to make sure its not busted.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Required: -Microphone -Discord account -Dice [digital or physical] Recommended: -D&DBeyond.com account -Notekeeping materials -If you need help creating a character, look through some of the race and class options to form an idea of what you would like to play. I can help you build the character during Session 0 or beforehand over messages.

What Mikey brings to the table

For my games, I use D&DBeyond.com for visuals and combat and Discord will be used to host the game. If you are new to the game, I'm happy to coach you through each step from character creation to combat and spellcasting. I will have a campaign made on D&DBeyond.com that you will be able to join. I have content sharing on so you will benefit from what I've purchased on the site and you'll be connected with the other VTT tools the site offers. We live by the Rule of Cool at my table. If you can weave me a good yarn or paint an awesome picture, I'm definitely willing to bend the rules so we can have cool or hilarious character moments. I love to celebrate Natural 20's with heroics and accomplishing the impossible. Natural 1's are met with the same fanfare as failures will be comical or devastating. Visually, two forms of imagination aid are used: Set pieces - an image meant to convey the setting in non-combat situations. These images are generated via AI, sourced from the internet, or drawn by me. Combat maps - gridded maps of a combat area w/ tokens to represent players and enemies. These are generated via AI, sourced from the internet, or created by me.

Safety

How Mikey creates a safe table

Session 0: At Session 0 we'll discuss characters [including making characters if needed], talk about the setting, and discuss what sort of experience the players are looking for. Lastly, we'll discuss Lines and Veils to make sure everyone is comfortable at the table. Lines and Veils: These will be discussed at Session 0 and updated as needed. Open Door: If anyone needs to leave the session either briefly or otherwise, they are more than welcome. All I ask is that if you will not be coming back to the table during the session, send me a message so I can proceed accordingly. No explanation is needed, just a heads up. Breaks: The session is 3 hours long. We'll take a 5-10 minute break in the middle but we can take more as wanted/needed. Stars and Wishes: I appreciate all feedback! Feel free to express what you liked in the session or what could make the game better in whatever format you feel comfortable in; i.e. message, during session
