About Matt

Years ago I started GMing a game for friends who missed playing TTRPGs. Since then, even though I improved as a story teller and a GM, one thing remained consistent - keeping heart at the focus of play. There's nothing like sitting around a table, in person or virtually, with people you like and you're all laughing at hijinks or at the edge of your seat invested in the story. That's the vibe I want to try to bring to you every game. Though setting and players may change from game to game, it's about all of us creating stories together. I started with Dungeons & Dragons 5e like many and will always have a place in my heart for it. However, I also have really enjoyed games like DIE RPG and Daggerheart allowing for a more fluid narrative.

When I'm not running games I'm...

typically planning for them! The 3D printer is running, I'm finding maps, I'm writing.... in no particular order, though! When I'm not doing anything game related though, I try to be outside with my wife, my dog Vash, enjoying the weather on a hike or at a local brewery.

How Matt runs games

I enjoy narrative-forward stories that everyone at the table can craft together. I want to make sure everyone feels like their character choices have impact and it all starts at character creation in a session 0. I am there to facilitate and help build the world around you and the group and the stories you want to tell. I run tables to be inclusive and where everyone can feel comfortable right from the start at that session 0.

When it comes to voices

I'll be doing voices, but there's certainly no pressure for you to do any!

Matt's ideal table

I love players that are respectful of one another. Nothing makes a table better, or more fun!

I love it when a player

Swings big! Take the big character choice because no matter if it fails or succeeds, it's going to turn into a terrific story beat.

My table is not the place for...

Bigotry, disrespect, exclusion, bullying
