About Iain - a Scots DM
Dive into enchantment! Let me craft your epic adventure in a world of words – where your choices shape the story. Ready for a thrilling journey? I work in technology and coach martial arts. I am also a long-time member of the AboveVTT team and had the honour of generating the initial D&D Beyond Maps for every module into that system. My eyes stopped bleeding after a little while :) Immerse yourself in inclusive and dynamic storytelling where every player is a vital part of the narrative. I prioritise fun for each participant, ensuring every character has their moment to shine in our collaborative adventure. Versatile in accommodating diverse gaming styles, I act as your biggest fan while letting actions, or their absence, unfold organically with consequences in our evolving stories. By intricately weaving together player and NPC story arcs, we co-create a vibrant world that responds dynamically to your choices, making each session an unforgettable experience. I invite you to join me and help build a story that you'll remember and recall for years to come. Let's StartPlaying!

How Iain - a Scots DM runs games
Let’s tell unforgettable stories together. As an experienced GM with a deep understanding of the emotional and creative sides of storytelling, I focus on creating immersive experiences where every player feels empowered and every moment is engaging. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a first-time player, I foster a collaborative environment where your character’s choices matter. • Storytelling: I craft intricate narratives filled with rich lore, emotional depth, and engaging characters. Every session is a chance for your character to shine, with a story that’s uniquely tailored to you and your party. • Creativity: I encourage players to think creatively, leveraging both strategy and imagination to overcome challenges. I love blending complex mechanics with free-flowing storytelling to create an unforgettable experience. • Teaching: My sessions are as much about learning as they are about playing. I guide players through the rules of the game and offer tips to help you become more comfortable and confident, whether you’re new or experienced. I believe that every campaign should balance thrilling combat, deep role-playing, and captivating exploration, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Expect fun, excitement, and challenges, but know that I always have your back as a GM, creating opportunities for your characters to succeed. I thrive on energy and joy, making sure every session feels alive with possibilities. Whether you’re venturing through forgotten ruins or delving into political intrigue, I want every player to shine and feel a part of the story. Let’s create something amazing together! collaborative story-telling where over the course of a campaign each player will share their moment in the spotlight.
Rules are...
there to support the system and help move the story forward.

Featured Prompts
I love it when a player
moves the story forward, or sideways, by using some information they picked up from sessions in the past.
I think metagaming...
is fine in certain situations. It's also okay to mention meta-gaming above the table and discuss what the player would know versus the character. Most times, the characters would know more than the player.
I think min/maxing...
is something some players truly enjoy. The aim for myself, as DM, is to build scenarios that allow all player characters to shine at various stages.
