About Pert
Howdy ya’ll! I’m Peter and I got my start playing tabletops with DnD 3.5e at a friends birthday party when I was 13 and I’ve been hooked ever since. From there I started playing years of pathfinder 1e with my online gaming friends and transitioned into dming because I loved the storytelling opportunities. Tabletop roleplaying games have always been about community, fun, and expression for me so I do my best to cultivate it in any play space. I believe the most important and fun aspects of tabletop roleplaying come out in the collaboration of everyone involved to advance the story; and this can only happen when everyone feels safe, respected, and like they are an equal part of the story. My whole philosophy as a GM is centered around keeping the story collaborative and fun for everyone involved. Creating investment with my players is key: This always starts with a session 0 where we get everyone on the same page for expectations. Players who join campaigns later will at the least get a quick one on one session 0 to prep. As for details about myself I am a non-straight neurodivergent man doing my best to turn my biggest hobby and passion into a job so I can share the things I love about it with others. When I’m not furthering that goal I am devouring my favorite media which includes everything horror and fantasy on my couch with a lap full of my elderly kitties and my partner by my side.

My favorite books are
The Legend of Drizz't novels are a personal favorite of mine with the Dragonlance Chronicles following. Although I am trying to make time to read more and Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn is taking me by storm!
My favorite system of all Time is
Nostalgically I'd say that Pathfinder 1e is my favorite system since it is just so fleshed out and full of options to where you can make such unique and fun characters.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Spending time with my partner, watching movies(usually horror/science fiction), prepping for games, or sadly grinding away at my day job.
How Pert runs games
When it comes to the types of stories I like to tell I find myself most interested in leading games heavy on exploration, investigation, and dynamic encounters(combat and otherwise!). I am a natural goofball and comedy plays a heavy role in my games. Genre wise my two great loves are High Fantasy and horror so both tend to have strong influences on the tone of my games. Whole lotta magic and weird/spooky critters!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Probably Sam Raimi! I try to up the zaniness and frame things in a way where the tension is palpable and even if the situation is goofy it doesn't detract from the stakes.
Rules are...
Somewhat loosey goosey with me. They're an excellent framework and jumping off point but i've been running "Rule of Cool" style long before I knew the term. I play off of the energy in the game and how invested my PCs are to certain things. I love giving them an opportunity to do something dramatic
When it comes to voices
I play more with cadence and tone than actual voice modulation or accents. I usually pick a vibe/personality that i am trying to bring forward as the defining trait for a character and embody that with how I speak for them.
Pert's ideal table
I like to keep a fun, positive gaming environment where the focus is on a collective narrative. Its me, the players, and the dice each bringing our pieces to tell a unique story. Players who are concept driven and along for the fun will fit extremely well at one of my tables!

I love it when a player
Gets so into a scene they forget everything else or when they come up with something I had never even considered. I love when a player surprises me and makes me think on my feet.
I think min/maxing...
is fine! i think we're all actually better at some things than others and okay at most things so its kinda realistic. I also try not to police character creation too much. If a player wants a weird specialized build they can totally do that.
My table is not the place for...
combative personalities, bigotry of ANY sort, or people with heavy Main character syndrome. I give everyone their chance to shine, but if you try to take away from anyone else it is not welcome at my table.
