About Egrigor (Nick)
I have been playing TTRPGs on and off since 2nd edition D&D. I starting GMing about 3 years ago, and run a bi-weekly home game, as well as bi-weekly games at my FLGS. I now run several different games, including D&D5e, DCC, Draw Steel, and Call of Cthulhu.

I got started GMing...
My son became interested in D&D after playing with some friends that he had graduated HS with. He was talking about it, and I was like "I used to play 2nd edition." We couldn't find a DM in the area, so I got some 5e books, we got some people together, and that first campaign lasted 2 years.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Draw Steel, DCC, and D&D 5e
People are always surprised when I tell them
Probably when I tell them that I GM TTRPGs. I work on tractor trailers for a living, and I used to play bass in some Metal, and Punk bands. People find it hard to imagine that I can be into "nerdy" stuff.
How Egrigor (Nick) runs games
I prefer short campaigns, and one shots. I tend to use mainly pre written adventures, but I may change things on the fly based on player decisions, NPC interactions, and backstories. I try to stick closely to RAW for most things, but may deviate based on the "Rule of Cool." My main objective is to just have fun, that includes me, and my players. I never take myself, or my games too seriously.

I deal with rules issues by...
Trying to quickly come up with a ruling based on player consensus. It may not be RAW, but it will work for now. After the session, I will find the rules, and relay it to my players. There is nothing I dislike more than bringing a game to a stop to look up rules.
I prep by
Going over the maps, and encounters that are planned for the session. I mentally walk myself through the world, and try to immerse myself in it. This helps me get details to make it more immersive for my players.
When it comes to voices
I try, but they all seem to sound pretty much the same.
Egrigor (Nick)'s ideal table
Everyone is welcome at my table. I have run games for all ages from 50's down to 6 years old. I love helping teach new players, and making their first game experience memorable. I like players who get involved in the world, ask questions, and think outside the box. Most of all, I love running tables where everyone is just having fun. I try no to take any of my games too seriously.

I love it when a player
Does something unexpected. find unusual ways to solve problems. I am always amazed by how some peoples brains work.
I think metagaming...
Is not as big of a problem as people make it out to be. I will sometimes give my players "Meta" information to help move the story. Kind of like a cutscene in a movie. As far as stat blocks are concerned, they can all be changed.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine. One of my regular players is a min/maxer. I love watching him pull out crazy moves that I didn't expect. It keeps the game exciting. At the same time, NPCs in the world can hear of his exploits, and come to find ways to counter them.
