About me

Hey there! I'm DragnaCarta, the author of the guide "Curse of Strahd: Reloaded," as well as the former DM and director of the now-concluded Curse of Strahd actual play "Curse of Strahd: Twice Bitten." I've been publishing "Reloaded" since 2018 on /r/CurseOfStrahd, and recently began a wholesale rework and revision in December of 2022. I formerly served as a moderator of the /r/CurseOfStrahd subreddit and Discord community, writing multiple informational Curse of Strahd-related reference documents for new and veteran DMs. I'm also a former guest writer on DMing skills & design theory for FlutesLoot.com, and the creator of the "Challenge Ratings 2.0" encounter-balancing system for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. My DMing philosophy is simple: I work to combine concrete principles of narrative and game development with player-oriented design, while always doing my utmost to ensure that my players have the most resonant, memorable, and satisfying experience possible. I try to keep open lines of communication with my players at all times, and welcome any requests, feedback, or other information that I can use to make your games as enjoyable as I can.

GM Style

I'm able to run a wide variety of games depending on player preference, but I'm experienced with roleplay-heavy campaigns (including character accents and voices), tactical combat design (including dynamic, player-calibrated encounters), and immersive, foreshadowing-heavy narratives. Please note that all games will be played via Discord voicechat (facecams not necessary).
