The Scales of Stormwrath - A Learn to Play Adventure!
Welcome to Tempestfang Isle — where the sky is never calm, the past never rests, and dragons are more than just legends.
About the adventure
Curious about D&D but not ready to commit to a long campaign? New to the game and want a low-pressure way to try it out? Then this table is perfect for you! Your voyage across the sea was calm, uneventful—even serene. But now, as your small boat glides into a quiet harbor beneath towering cliffs, you sense that peace was merely the calm before something far greater. An island rises before you, wild and ancient. Shimmering seaweed dances beneath the waves, sunlight breaks defiantly through heavy clouds, and a massive statue watches from the cliffside—a bearded figure encircled by songbirds, standing sentinel at the temple above. As you step onto the weathered dock, the sailors offer a final wish of luck before rowing away, their oars vanishing into mist. Before you winds a path etched into black stone, climbing ever upward toward mystery, memory, and perhaps… destiny. Welcome to Dragon’s Rest. I'm running "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle", a beginner-friendly adventure designed to introduce new players to Dungeons & Dragons. It's short, fun, and a great way to dip your toe into the world of fantasy, dice, and epic storytelling. ✅ No experience needed ✅ From Level 1 to Level 3 ✅ Low time commitment Whether you're just starting out or looking for a short-term adventure, this is your chance to jump into the game without the year-long commitment.

About me
I’m a disabled veteran, and I found Dungeons & Dragons during one of the hardest chapters of my life. It started as a way to escape, but quickly became something so much more. D&D helped me process trauma, reconnect with creativity, and, most importantly, build lasting friendships in a space where I felt safe and seen. Becoming a Dungeon Master wasn’t just about telling stories—it was about creating a space where others could heal, grow, and belong too. I know how powerful this game can be, especially for those who feel isolated, overwhelmed, or like they don’t quite fit in. Now, I run welcoming, beginner-friendly games that focus on collaboration, creativity, and kindness. Whether you're brand new to the game or just need a place to roll some dice and breathe for a bit—you’re welcome at my table.

Creating your character
For this campaign, we’ll keep things structured and beginner-friendly while still allowing room for creativity and depth. Race & Class Options: We’ll be using official races & classes from the Player’s Handbook to stay consistent with the setting. Stats & Starting Level: We’ll be using point buy for ability scores, and characters will start at level 1. When & How We Build: Come to Session 0 with a character concept in mind—"what kind of hero would you like to be" . We’ll finalize the details during the session, including mechanics, equipment, and party connections. Character Creation Platform: Characters will be created in D&D Beyond. Leveling System: We’ll be leveling up by milestone. Key story moments, accomplishments, and narrative progress will determine when the party levels up.

What Kya brings to the table
As your Dungeon Master, I aim to create an immersive, engaging, and supportive experience for all players—whether you're a seasoned adventurer or brand new to the game. Here's what you can expect from my table: Virtual Tabletop (VTT): We’ll be using a clean, organized VTT(Roll20) setup for combat, exploration, and visual storytelling. Expect smooth map transitions and clear grid-based gameplay. Custom Tokens: Players will receive custom tokens that visually represent their characters for a more immersive experience. Ambient Music & Soundscapes: I use background music and ambient sound effects to help bring each scene to life—whether it’s the bustling streets of a city, the eerie silence of a dungeon, or the roar of dragonfire. D&D Beyond Integration: I have a Master Tier subscription on D&D Beyond and will share my full compendium of official content, including additional classes, races, spells, and items. Rules as Written (RAW): I run the game primarily by the book to ensure clarity and fairness for all players. That said, I’m open to creativity and cinematic moments if they add to the fun and don’t break the flow. Narrative & Roleplay: While I don’t do full-on character voices for every NPC, I vary tone, pacing, and speech patterns to bring personalities to life. Roleplay is highly encouraged, and I strive to create opportunities for personal growth, tension, and humor. My goal is to strike a balance between tactical combat, rich storytelling, and player-driven exploration, in a welcoming and collaborative environment.

How Kya creates a safe table
Your comfort and enjoyment matter just as much as your character’s story. As your DM, it’s my responsibility to create a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to roleplay boldly—without ever being made uncomfortable or unwelcome. This post outlines how we’ll handle tone, consent, and safety at the table, so you know what to expect from me, and what I’ll expect from everyone else. Tone of the Campaign: This game blends serious narrative, high-stakes fantasy, and character-driven roleplay, with moments of levity, action, and drama. Expect: Deep emotional roleplay and complex decisions Epic combat and heroic risks Some darker themes That said, this is still your story, and we’ll navigate heavy content together in a way that respects everyone’s boundaries. Consent & Comfort Tools To ensure everyone feels safe and in control of their experience, we’ll use the following tools: >X-Card System During play, if something makes you uncomfortable for any reason, you can say “X,” make an X with your hands, or send me a quick message. No explanation is needed. I’ll pivot the scene or skip content immediately, no questions asked. >Open Door Policy Need to pause, step away, or talk something through? Please do. Whether it’s in or out of game, I’m always here to support you. Your voice matters at this table. >Table Culture & Expectations This is a collaborative space. I expect players to: Treat each other with respect and empathy Support each other’s comfort and storytelling Speak up if something feels off—we’ll always talk through it with care and confidentiality There’s zero tolerance for harassment, hate, or behavior that makes others feel unsafe.
