About DC Keys (dckeys95)
I’m less of a Game Master, and more of a Story Keeper. I love seeing what tales we and the dice can create together. I feel like that’s what makes TTRPGs so much fun. We are all sitting down and making a story. My role at the table will always be to make sure everyone is having fun and feels empowered to help craft the narrative. If I'm the only one having fun or any impact on the narrative, then I have failed the story and the table. My fondest TTRPG memories are the ones where my character felt real, and the world felt alive. That's what I strive to create for other people. A table where I can keep the story safe that we are all making together.

How DC Keys (dckeys95) runs games
I love roleplaying and characters having stakes in the world. Lore and World Building are my jam. Whether it is for a mini arc, or a longer campaign, I want the player and the character to have buy in to the story we are making. That can be through backstory or character choices. I work to make sure people are comfortable at my table. This means open conversations about themes and boundaries before a single dice is rolled. The rules are there to be a guide, if you make a compelling argument and it serves the story that we are all telling, then I'll make it work. Whether this is your first game or your 100th I want you to feel heard. Combat can go a lot of different way based off system and tone of the table, but I enjoy mixing things up. I promise regardless of system no two combats will feel the same.

I deal with rules issues by...
Thinking what makes sense in the moment. I put thought into the player, table and story needs in that moment. This leads to things that might only work that one time. If something is clearly defined in the Rule book i stick with that, but that's so everyone has a base level of expectations
I prep by
Making maps, thinking of fun encounters, and working in backstory information I was given. I'm quick on my feet when it comes to background NPCs, Places and things
My games focus on...
Epic moments, whether that's character moments or moments in combat. After leaving the table every player should have at least one thing they go, "Yeah that was pretty cool"
DC Keys (dckeys95)'s ideal table
My table is a place of fun and expression. I've had players who have done voices and others who are just themselves. Session can be silly but when it's time to lock in they get deadly serious. I match the energy of my players and the table as we craft a story together that we can be proud to call ours.

I love it when a player
Asks me questions. Hey, could I do this or would this make sense. At the moment it becomes a dialogue, and the game becomes more than just some dice. Engages with roleplay, whether it's other players or the NPCs. That's what breathes life into the world
I think min/maxing...
Shows you care deeply about what you are doing, just be ok with stretching yourself a bit beyond that comfort zone.
My table is not the place for...
Bigotry of any kind. If you can't imagine a world that contains the full spectrum of human expression and experience than you might need to work on that. A game is only fun if everyone is comfortable and having fun.
