About Elias
Hello I am an academic and author who has been dming for 11 years now. The breadth of my knowledge focuses on D&D 5e but I have become accustomed to other systems as well. I have run games at conventions and am especially studied in horror and drama genres. I prefer gm-ing to playing and have run 12 long term campaigns and around 30 smaller adventures or one-shots. I am happy to learn any system I dont know and run it at a discount for access to a pdf of the rules.

How Elias runs games
I am a heavy roleplay gm. I lean into the lifesim dramatics of ttrpgs allowing you to think and feel as your character for a short time. I enjoy describing sensory details and using music and audio when fitting. Because I often run games with a horror lean(Although that is by all means not necessary) I am adament that we use safety tools and will bring up general lines and veils for every game I run. The table is about having fun and escapism for me, not causing real terror or harm. I prefer cinematic combat scenarios but have enough experience with D&D 5e that I can adjust. I always set out to create an intriguing and fun story with my players whatever that might mean to them.

I once ran a session...
That was two hours of character having an in character argument around a dinner table. Rolls were still made, but the characters had the session and only the session for this scene before the horror of their situation got worse. Think a scene from Hereditary.
My games focus on...
Emotionally Driven storytelling. Characters and their stories guide and influence the game more than anything else. I care about my pc's and their stories. I tend to add elements of domesticity to each game because I believe it helps build an emotional core and adds to worldbuilding.
Rules are...
There to support the fiction and the drama not police it. We use it to enact fairness and variance. Not as god. We are god. They are physics.
Elias's ideal table
My general vibe tends to be professionality forward when pro-gming, I lean heavily into rp and aesthetic decisions. I will make your character have to make a hard choice. I can still have jokes and be fun, I think its necessary when playing tough or emotional scenes.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Dramatic and tense scenes, and safe rp
I love it when a player
cares.
I think metagaming...
Is sometimes necessary and mostly a non-issue as oftenI tweak as written things for a better story. Also metagaming when used to support the fiction can be great, metagaming used to "win" the story, not so much.
