About KT

My name is Suzan, but you can call me KT. I started playing D&D back in 1978 with borrowed and shared materials, dice from other board games, graph paper and pencils, lead mini's, and ever changing rules. Then the AD&D books came out, and I created a Homeworld. My original characters became NPC's, including Kayen-Telva (KT). In the 1990's I taught my kids to play, and we had regular games with "wandering" friends for years. We still play - sometimes online sometimes in person. I've also been playing and running tables at a local Game Store for a few years now. Those games are Adventurers League, which is a great way to learn the game and make new friends. Even played in some tournaments, which was fun and rewarding. I've been a teacher, writer, dancer, musician and a therapist in addition to being a mom, and a gamer. D&D is an excellent tool for creative self expression. Can't imagine my life without it. Join me, won't you?

My favorite books are

I'd have to say my favorite authors are JRR Tolkien, Dan Brown and Carlos Casteneda. I've also read a great deal of world history (including Indigenous America), philosophy, and religious studies. Currently reading about Wilma Mankiller, first woman Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

My favorite shows/movies are

More of a Trekkie than a Wookie, Star Gate SG1, Firefly, MST3K, 12 Monkeys, The Fisher King, and Monty Python Don't really watch tv, but I love comedy as well. Love Josh Johnson and other comedians that can tell a good story. VLDL Adventures of Azerim, and anything that Robert Hartley, GM does.

When I'm not running games I'm...

doing yoga, gardening, cooking, listening to favorite music: YES, Tears for Fears, OLD Genesis (with Peter Gabriel), classic rock, and progressive rock in general.

How KT runs games

Players can expect to have fun in an engaging story, with many opportunities for epic combat. My style is a blend of RaW and RoC. The rules are there for a reason, but so is Heroic Inspiration! I've run games of all levels, so if you want to use that Wish spell at level 20, go ahead and try - but remember, I tend to be Fey touched, so there WILL be consequences... I do enjoy role-play, and will do some voices.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Rob Reiner or Terry Gilliam

I once ran a session...

(campaign) at a facility for people with TBI (brain injuries). Some were affected physically, but still had great imaginations. They loved the DICE as it was tactile. They loved the adventure, as it allowed them to be Super Heroes once a week for a couple hours, in an otherwise challenging life.

My games focus on...

players having a good time. That can mean different things for different players. I encourage group story telling and creativity. But sometimes being a murder hobo just gets the job done. Story hooks, personal quests, and Legendary outcomes makes for great adventures. It IS a game after all.

KT's ideal table

Well, the classic combo of Tank, Healer, and Spell casters just can't be beat. But if you want to run a group of nothing but Druids, or Bards, that would be fun too.

I love it when a player

works with other players to come up with creative solutions to the the problem they encounter in game.

I think metagaming...

is often hard to prevent, so I'd rather have a discussion about it and come to an understanding as to why it does or doesn't help the game.

My table is not the place for...

bigotry, sexism, politics or religion. You do you, but keep those things out of the game. Thanks.
