About Jake A. Strife
Hey, I'm Jake. Published author, certified book coach, and a GM for nearly three decades. I write horror, fantasy, and scifi for a living, and I love to run games in those genres as well. I prefer a balance of RP and combat. And I believe above all, entertainment is the most import part of these games. If everyone has fun, that's all that matters.

I became a GM because
I want to entertain and make a difference in people's lives, providing them awesome memories.
My favorite shows/movies are
The Matrix, the MCU, and Doctor Who.
When I'm not running games I'm...
writing scifi, fantasy, and horror novels. Or playing video games of the same genres.
How Jake A. Strife runs games
Entertainment. That's the most imortant aspect of any TTRPG. I love roleplaying, but also tactical combat. I love horror, but with just enough light so that even those who are easily afraid can enjoy the game. I'm not a fan of TPKs. They ruin games. That said, characters can die. Depending on the system they may go insane insane as well. If you want a dedicated GM who puts player entertainment in high priority, then you've found him.

My favorite trope is...
Saving the world against an ultimate BBEG.
My games focus on...
often elements of horror, but with enough humor mixed in to where it's not entirely doom and gloom.
Rules are...
I generally like to stick to rules as written. If a rule comes into question, we can let it roll until after or between sessions, find the correct ruling and move forward with that.
Jake A. Strife's ideal table
Roleplayers are great. The general vibe at my table is everyone having fun and being cheerful. Those who prefer not to roleplay aren't turned away, but it won't be as much fun if you only want to participate in combat. The ideal players are those who participate in the story.
Featured Prompts
I am for a vibe that's...
Fun, good humor, and everyone just wants to have an awesome time.
I love it when a player
brings a strong or quirky personality to a character but knows when to pass the spotlight on so others aren't overshadowed.
My table is not the place for...
rules lawyers who slow the game down with repeated interjections. Also, players who are rude, solo-only questers, and aren't team players need not apply. I'd also prefer to keep foul language and jokes as PG13 as possible. Nothing offensive. No hate speech. And don't aggressively talk over others.
