About Sara
Hello! My name is Sara (any/all). I am a multi-media artist. I work in illustration, sculpture, fiber arts, make up, and performance. I have been spending the past few years studying ttrpgs as multi-media folk art at ASU. I host, write, research for Blank Bodies Podcast. We talk Vampire: the Masquerade, horror gaming, and storytelling through the lens of Consent-In-Gaming, diversity, media analysis, and mature content. Check us out: blankbodies.com I am a founder of the non-profit TTRPGive. We organize joyful resistance within the gaming community. We ran the charity show Power Word Resist at GenCon. Check us out: powerwordresist.com I have been playing and running games for about 15 years, mostly through DnD and WoD. I am a major advocate for calibrating according to the needs and desires of your players. If you wish to have a space for the friends, you have to build the space for them. Games can run as dark or heavy as you wish, but this does not require having to be disrespectful. Storytelling is a major vector for us to share our culture and values with each other. Thinking about what we are sharing and why leads to more rewarding gameplay. Due to my passion for creativity and expression, I will never use AI nor will I allow it to be used during my games through game assets, art, or writing from either publishers or players. AI is prohibited at my tables. Breeching that trust will result in removal from the table and no refunds will be issued.

When I'm not running games I'm...
Either buried in an academic book about media, painting mini figs while listening to video essays about awful archeology, or heading out to a gig to see a wide variety of bands.
How Sara runs games
I tend to enjoy running games to be player, roleplay, and creativity forward. I encourage players to find unique solutions to problems and engage with the world in ways that encourage critical thinking, introspection, and empathy. Whether the plot is splatterpunk, deep political intrigue, or comedic slice-of-life, I am here to 'yes-and' and build a story with my players that they want to engage with. Note: AI is prohibited. I will not use it. No game element will be AI. I expect the same of players. Breeching that trust will result in removal from the table and no refunds will be issued.

I deal with rules issues by...
If the issue isn't too serious, either a quick correction or acknowledging the issue needs followed up after session is my usual go-to. More serious issues either require a break for us to talk over what is going on so we can find a resolution or an immediate one-on-one.
Rules are...
I tend to start with RAW and alter as we need for the table. When players are coming up with insane ideas, sometimes the base rules cannot account for that. The rules are to support the narrative and to add drama to the stakes we have built up.
Sara's ideal table
I like a table where the players are invested enough to do outside research. It is very fulfilling to me when, through fits of laughter, the game comes to a pause so someone can look up the exact month and year a specific movie came out as to not 'ruin' the emersion of a scene with a pun. My goal is for everyone to have fun. If we get to learn something along the way, that is an absolute win.

I love it when a player
Takes the time to learn more about the world due to narrative. Researching more about history and cultures through gaming is a big passion of mine. If a player can bring me something I didn't know about before, absolutely sick.
