I became a GM because
I started running Monster of the Week as a way to keep in touch with my family after moving across the country and quickly fell in love with the improvisational elements. I started running 5e when my favorite DM and one of my favorite players told me I had to 🤷
When I'm not running games I'm...
playing them! I love to really dig into a character and am in 3 long-term campaigns. I also get to be a bonus grownup for two cool kids! Getting to be home with them is part of why I decided to transition to professional GMing.
How ClassicallyAspen runs games
I love to work with my players to create a narrative that we are all excited about. This could mean weaving character backstory into the plot, or for folks who prefer to jump right into things, looking at their skills and interests to find moments for their characters to shine. My sessions are roleplay focused, with combats that tie into the broader plot rather than being combat for combat's sake. Player experience is very important to me and I work to ensure that everyone gets their moments in the spotlight, and seek and incorporate player feedback.

I prep by
going over player feedback and goals from the last session and making sure the things players are most excited about are ready to go. A lot can be improvised, so I tend to buckle down and create stat blocks and maps while daydreaming and scheming about the rest.
Rules are...
important for a good gaming experience, but should not detract from the experience. If there is uncertainty or conflict around a rule I make the best decision I can in the moment to keep the game flowing. I'm a big fan of house rules that make the game more fun for players.
ClassicallyAspen 's ideal table
I love a table where everyone is excited to explore their character, and to get to know the other characters too. It's important that players be considerate of each other and that everyone feel comfortable communicating about what they need and want from play. I like when a player really gets into a scene and love when the other players are happy to step back and let they happen, knowing that they will get immersive scenes soon too.
