About Faust
I've been a player/GM for about 10 years now, and from my experience I've learned to adapt to nearly any circumstance thrown my way! I admit, I'm more into the story telling, I like to see my players succeed; so it sometimes hurts to see them fail(unless brought on by themselves!). I strongly believe in the player's choice, and if they aren't enjoying themselves I try to do what I can to keep everyone interested. I'm heavily influenced by the Grimdark of Warhammer 40k and touches of Andrej Sapkowski's Witcher, but that's typically under-minded by the works of Terry Pratchett; so many of the games I host are more akin to black comedies. I’ve got one complete curse of Strahd campaign under my belt, and am currently running a Wild beyond the Witchlight and Tales from the Yawning Portal campaigns; and will be running the Crooked Moon Campaign as soon as the book is made available!

My favorite books are
Anything by Terry Pratchett. He’s guided my own twist on things as a DM; able to take a serious subject and make it light, while not making a complete satire out of things. Most of my games are dark humored, but never ill spirited.
I got started GMing...
When a group of my friends wanted to try the game out; I kinda got roped in - someone started a campaign, I somehow took over. It didn’t last long - but it was a start - and now almost a decade later, and 7 different groups under my belt. I’ve only just began to get a grasp of things…
When I'm not running games I'm...
A dad. I’ve got two amazing little boys who keep me on my toes, so not too much room for anything else; but I wouldn’t change things for the world - if anything I’m excited for when they’re old enough to join in my games.
How Faust runs games
Have Fun; I believe heavily in the "Rule of Cool", if it makes sense - I usually won't question it. I do like 'Cause and effect' in my games, as to keep my players questioning their actions: yeah I can be manipulative... I believe in milestones, not EXP; I'm a nerd, not a psychopath! I honestly am technologically inept and genuinely have no idea how to use most systems, I've had some practice using Owlbear Rodeo as a VTT; and heavy Discord integrate has become a great part of the game! no limitations on character creation, I encourage all - If you wanna be a sentient toaster, go for it! I would only ask that there is unity in the party, I don't encourage lone-wolfs, edge-lords, or "it's what my character would do" types(I should know, my first character was all three and I still hate myself for it).

When it comes to voices
I try… my grandmother convinced me that she could speak seven languages. Sure; some of my character voices blend in with others, but I will make an effort to bring life to these characters to the best of my abilities!
If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Either David Fincher or The Coen Brothers; I try to capture the artistic and absurd. To give every person a chance at their own cinematic moment - to hopefully embrace the moment in whichever fashion that seems to fit the character.
My favorite trope is...
Faustian Bargains! If the name wasn’t a dead give away; got a thing for dangerous deals in game. I’ll often sneak my DMNPC into a game if things look too bleak; sure - you’ll survive the execution or defeat the villains… but at what cost? Only time will tell…
Faust's ideal table
It’s an oxymoron right? To have a good player? I just want people to have a good time, maybe a cheap laugh, and above all to enjoy the game.

I love it when a player
does the reckless thing - ‘audentes Fortuna iuvat’. Now there’s a difference in reckless and moronic - at least to me, touching the artifact or investigating the curious thing - more of that. Challenging the town’s bare knuckle boxing champion to a death match… not so much.
My table is not the place for...
Someone seeking to be the main character. The game is a combined effort - including the Dungeon Master - to tell an amazing story. As a DM I control an entire galaxy, but it’s an empty place without the added chaos and creativity of players! It’s what makes the game worth playing!
I think metagaming...
Is inevitable; But what makes the game more fun is to take the risk. You may know the outcome of one event in an adventure or module, so why not try a different action?
