I got started GMing...

around the age of 16 -- which was 1993. 2nd Edition AD&D Dark Sun campaign for my friends and I in high school. It was great fun, and I loved exploring other worlds; meeting other characters, and escaping from modern life.

How Chris runs games

My games are heavy on genre and narrative flavor. Descriptive settings, intense drama, and lots of collaboration with players to create the best possible storyline. Engaging, exciting and dripping with intensity, I strive to make all sessions of my games feel like a great movie or TV show that I would want to keep on watching! I am well versed in the rules, but will know when it is appropriate to let something happen (or attempted!) if it fits the storyline in the moment. I am getting away from games that have tactical grid-based combat, and prefer games with a bit more cinematic quality to their combat systems. So I try to keep combat encounters feeling meaningful and not have them become a slog. I prefer to show my players tons of reference images and art work to set the mood of a scene more often that a verbatim map that is set in stone. I have a fluid game style that lets everyone at the table feel like they can have equal input into how certain things playout in the game.

When it comes to voices

I do my best but don't get too dep with "voice acting". I leave that to the professionals, but you never know...I may slip in a fun accent here or there.

Chris's ideal table

My ideal table is a group of fun, creative people that are here to have the best time and are willing to engage in the storytelling. I keep the door open for players to suggest various courses of action and strive to be supportive of their ideas and flow of the games.
