About Dimitris (The Budromeister)
My name is Dimitris, and I hail from the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, Greece. I have been playing tabletop RPGs as a Dungeon Master and Game Master for over 30 years, beginning my journey with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Over the years, I have explored a wide variety of systems and settings, and I primarily write my own original scenarios which I publish them through Pure Critical. My work spans multiple genres, including Heroic Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Victorian Horror, Science Fiction Mystery, and Cyberpunk. I have successfully run several long-term campaigns, including three that lasted between two and three years, set in Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, and worlds of my own creation. I am a lifelong fan of Ravenloft 2E, which has heavily influenced my storytelling style, and in the past two years I have also fallen in love with the brutal, atmospheric design of MÖRK BORG and CY_BORG.

I became a GM because
the world needs Game Masters. Not just people who know the rules, but storytellers, guides, and architects of imagination. In a world that often feels chaotic, the Game Master creates meaning, connection, and adventure. I have been a Game Master for almost 30 years now, and I love every second of it
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Fair, Creative and Engaging
When I'm not running games I'm...
I chill with my family, play World of Warcraft or writing my next scenario.
How Dimitris (The Budromeister) runs games
I aim for a strong balance between roleplay and combat, ensuring that both character interaction and meaningful encounters drive the story forward. I always ask my players to provide a character background, which I actively weave into the campaign so each character has a personal story that unfolds naturally across the sessions. I enjoy creating fully realized NPCs with deep lore, motivations, and connections to the world. Hints, rumors, and cryptic information are often revealed early on, foreshadowing events that may occur much later. It is up to the players to interpret these clues, keep notes, and decide how they act on them, rewarding attentive play and curiosity.

I deal with rules issues by...
not stopping the game session. My word is final at the table. After the session we can discuss it calmly, and if I’m wrong I’ll admit it and fix it next time. Rules lawyers usually struggle with me.
My favorite trope is...
characters defined by their choices, not their stats. I also like the trope of hope surviving in a cruel world.
Rules are...
only to serve fun. RAW never worked for me. It often steals the fun of the table. For example if the boss has 20 HP left and a crit deals 19, I give the kill with a vivid, cinematic description. The story matters more than the math.
Dimitris (The Budromeister)'s ideal table
I focus on atmosphere, meaningful choices, and cinematic moments rather than strict rule enforcement. Rules serve the story and the fun, not the other way around. The general vibe includes serious stories with room for humor, intense moments balanced by table laughter. The player should expect dark worlds, heroic defiance, difficult decisions, and memorable scenes. I encourage player agency, cinematic descriptions, and emotional investment. What you won’t find is heavy rules-lawyering, disruptive play, or min-maxing over roleplay.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
a balanced combat / roleplay session, open world exploration and dramatic mystery scenarios
I love it when a player
surprises me with a choice that makes the story better, not easier. respects the spotlight of others and helps everyone shine. turns a simple roll into a legendary moment. puts character before optimization.
My table is not the place for...
rules disputes, real-world problems, or politics. I expect every player to respect the other players and the time and money they invest. After all, we are here to HAVE A GOOD TIME. Nothing more, nothing less.
