About Bruno Martín

I'm a 23 year old player that's been playing for over half their lifetime! I started playing when I was 10 years old back when my father designed a simple TTRPG system for me to enjoy and spend time together. Ever since, I fell in love with the hobby and introduced many players into homebrew systems and even got them to read and play actual systems after several years of gaming. I focus heavily on informed improvisation and adjusting to my player's wishes, as well as introducing them into the narrative both by their backstory or the future events being related to themes and character arcs. I used to dislike D&D but after having an actually good experience (which took a while, since I had several poor ones before) I started to DM for the most popular system and learnt how to love it. We're definitely in a toxic relationship.

My favorite system of all Time is

My homebrewed ones. Nothing is more satisfying than making something work exactly as intended for the experience and tone I'm looking for.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Alex said: Emotional, Captivating and Coherent/Consistent. Francisco said: Satisfying, Ingenious and Unexpected. When asked to elaborate, my players mentioned that they've cried in two different sessions, how invested they've become in the campaign and that they hang on every word and plot point.

When I'm not running games I'm...

writing, reading and creating art in any way I can. I work as a commission writer, I do creative consulting and I've worked in designing TTRPG modules solely for enjoyment and even creating whole systems. I also think and write around my players and adjust my plans based on investing them more!

How Bruno Martín runs games

I enjoy running heavily narrative and character-based games. I like to craft stories that involve backstories as main catalysts for the story in surprising twists. My combat is purposeful and rarely meant to fill time, and there's thrilling moments where death creeps around in the world to keep stakes high for everyone involved.

I deal with rules issues by...

making a quick ruling and making sure to avoid breaking the momentum as much as I can.

My favorite trope is...

tragic love. Also, the strength and world-changing ability of sheer willpower.

Rules are...

what I use to solve things outside the narrative. Made for combat and supplementing the story.

Bruno Martín's ideal table

My table needs people to be respectful and engaged with the story. I want players to connect with each other, with NPCs and to find the exact way that THEY and THEY alone can solve the issues at hand. I enjoy stories that are dark, bordering in uncomfortable sometimes. My worlds have every issue that exists in our own, no matter how fantastical they are (unless the point is to be in a utopia!). The vibes I go for are very exaggerated, I enjoy drama and emotion even more when it's not tragic or negative. I like to see bonds forged in adversity and the triumph of good over the inherent darkness.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Invincible, The Witcher, Bloodborne, EPIC, The Kingkiller Chronicles, the Absolute Universe (DC), Anime/Manga and Cyberpunk in general.

I love it when a player

gets into it! Give me that monologue, do that crazy thing in combat. Get involved! As long as you don't breach into powergaming or metagaming when you're doing so, I will encourage you to embody your character as hard as I can!

My table is not the place for...

excessive jokes. I don't like the tension being cut by a player trying to be funny and undercut the moment. It's also not the place to have crazy shenanigans that are wildly out of character or disruptive. There's a very deserved time to joke around, but random chaos is not engaging to me.
