About Richard

Howdy folks! My name is Richard and I've been GMing for a little over 10 years and playing off and on for 20. I like to play wide variety of games and have run everything from Glitter Hearts to Call of Cthulhu. As a player, my favorite pillar of the hobby is the exploration element so when I GM I try to infuse plenty of unknown into my combat and roleplaying. What is the glitter in that heart? How many Cthulhu's can one call? Laying out breadcrumbs that players can mull over and chew on and seeing what they choose to do is the fun of TTRPGs. As a GM, I work to build a player driven narrative that sets out challenges for them to overcome and quandary's to consider. Their characters backstories are intertwined with the narrative of the adventure whether it's homebrew or an established campaign. My hope with every session is that you leave a little lighter and happier after overcoming a "just right" challenge whether it's engaging in a duel of words or swords.

How Richard runs games

I run games that focus on tension and earned heroism. The world will feel real because it's built around your character's goals, and while you may start out on shaky ground, overcoming challenges is how you'll become a hero. I prioritize a great story, so I'll sometimes bend the rules to keep the narrative exciting.
