About Matt Cortez
Hey, Matt here! From the moment I rolled my first die at the age of 17, I knew that this was going to be a game style that I was going to fall in love with. 22 years later and it has become my passion. Shortly after playing my first campaign, I created my own homebrew game with my own world and history. I haven’t stopped since. I’ve created various worlds and settings. Each with different game rules or a unique setting beyond just fantasy, such as, sci-fi, westerns and my own take on the world we live in. TTRPG’s have allowed me to express my love of storytelling, where I can create moments that make lasting effect. My love of cinema, tv or music where I can create those moments where the hero/team saves the day and now you can experience that yourself, rather than watch it. Where that one song plays, at the right time, to emphasize the gravitas of the moment. I thank you for your time reading this and hope to see you at my table. Until then, May all your choices come with advantage.

I got started GMing...
As soon as I finished my first session of a TTRPG. I played a friends homebrew game and immediately fell in love with the entire concept of what these games are capable of. I came home that night and started world building and writing story ideas. My first "world" is still being used to this day.
How Matt Cortez runs games
When I create a game for my players, I think, how can I make each of them experience the feeling of being a hero in their story. Role-playing and storytelling is a large part of my game style. I like to work with players on their own story and have them resolve conflicts or goals they want while also delivering a fun descriptive combat experience that they can all walk away with feeling like they contributed to. My goal as a GM is to always give each of my players the best experience possible. You, as the player, are the hero of your story, you're the hero of my story and I want each player to walk away every session knowing that.
