About Neall Price
My first games were played at summer camp, rolling dice in a shared tent and trying to read rulebooks by flashlight. More than 25 years later, I still love telling stories with fellow adventurers. The housing and lighting have improved, somewhat. I'm a former ENnie-award winning TTRPG writer and developer who has written and run games for Paizo, White Wolf, Darker Hue, Chaosium, Green Ronin, EDGE, and Onyx Path. I've run everything from years-long campaigns to convention one-shots, and all the permutations in between. I value collaboration and player empowerment at the table — tabletop games should be challenging to characters (emotionally and physically!) but always comfortable and engaging for the players.

I started running games because...
I wanted to tell collaborative stories with my friends and challenge them with stories and puzzles.
My favorite books are
The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas), Parable of the Sower (Octavia Butler), Circe (Madeline Miller), Snow Crash (Neal Stephenson), The Way of Kings (Brandon Sanderson), Foundation (Isaac Asimov)
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Creative, Flexible, Prepared
How Neall Price runs games
I love roleplaying and seeing players find their sense of pathos in the middle of a session. I enjoy challenging characters, not players. In the end, I want everyone at the table, myself included, to have fun.

I deal with rules issues by...
Looking at what's written and what's intended, and generally defaulting to what's most interesting at the table, most beneficial for the player, and seems like the most fun for everyone. Once I make a ruling, I typically stick with it unless there's a compelling reason not to.
I prep by
Typically doing a lot of research on little details, but also really drilling down the characters of the NPCs, snipping little bits of dialogue I'd like to convey, and generally making bullet points of the major points I want to convey in each scene. I'm a Boy Scout, I like to be prepared.
My games focus on...
Characters, roleplaying, and worldbuilding.
Neall Price's ideal table
Ideally, everyone at the table should want everyone else at the table to have fun — including the GM. We want a vibe that's respectful and encouraging for other players (but not necessarily other characters!).
Featured Prompts
I am for a vibe that's...
Mostly serious (pathos) but with enough comedy to leaven things up (bathos).
I love it when a player
Surprises me and themselves with something they didn't expect, whether it's a character choice, a combat tactic, or a shocking viewpoint on the ongoing events.
I think metagaming...
...is for people who don't trust the GM or themselves. Games are structured the way they are for fairness. Trust that the GM should want you to succeed gloriously or fail spectacularly, and won't try to screw you over.
