About Velrock
I have been a game master for private games for 7 years now and have run and completed multiple campaigns including numerous homebrew campaigns as well as a few d&d campaigns such as Rime of the Frostmaiden, Lost Mines of Phandelver, Curse of Strahd, and Out of the Abyss. I am familiar with several game systems including D&D 5e, Star Wars Saga Edition, Pathfinder, Starfinder, and Wrath and Glory. As a 3d modeler I spend most of my days creating characters and monsters for the games I run, and it affords me a lot of time to think about stories and encounters to present to my players.

I became a GM because
I enjoy giving my player's a fun adventure that they will remember. I have played a few games where the game master hasn't made an effort in helping me incorporate my character into the larger world, and it makes me feel less immersed, and it's something I love to do for my own players.
My favorite books are
The Hobbit and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, both of which somehow cast Martin Freeman in the leading role in their movie adaptations. Weird coincidence...
My favorite system of all Time is
Star Wars Saga Edition
How Velrock runs games
I make a lot of homebrew based on the characters that my players create so that I can make unique experiences for them, and while I stick to rules as written, I like to bend them in favor of epic or goofy moments to create a narrative that can suck my players in. I keep combat snappy to the best of my ability so that it doesn't turn into a slog, but I do like to add flavor to it by describing what is happening while fighting. Roleplay is something I encourage my players to engage in the most. I ask that players create detailed backstories (can be as simple as information about the character, or as detailed as previous endeavors they have particpated in), and I help them make something that they are happy with that will also work for the campaign we are in. I throw in plenty of optional plot hooks, quests, and adventures that the party can CHOOSE to go on or not, and I break up stale travel with small encounters (combat or roleplay) and even fun puzzles.

I deal with rules issues by...
going with rules as written first, then with listed homebrew rules that are provided before the campaign starts. If there is still an issue after looking at these resources, I will get input from the players for a one-time ruling to keep the game moving, or do something usually in favor of players.
Rules are...
Meant to be followed so that running the game can be streamlined and without issue. However, bending the rules when it makes sense and can provide more fun for the players is great!
When it comes to voices
I will do my best to make each character feel unique. I will do accents of all types, so if that is something you think is offensive, then this is not the place for you.
Velrock's ideal table
I welcome people from all backgrounds, however I will quickly shut down people who bring political discussion to the table. This is a means to get away from real world nonsense. Players in my games will quickly realize that while I take the story seriously, there are constant opportunities where we can goof around and add some levity to the campaign, which I do often. Goofing around is welcome and encouraged as long as it does not derail the game. If a player wants to add flavor to a scene, I will accept it 99% of the time. Players who are fans of homebrew will enjoy playing with me, as I tailor stories and equipment to their characters. Players with main character syndrome or who like to be lone wolves will not enjoy playing in my games, as I encourage team work and character goals to at least somewhat align.

I love it when a player
Adds to the scene in a fun way that makes sense. I can play well off of what players do and it will make for a good time at the table!
I think min/maxing...
Is great! Just be mindful of other players and don't act like you are the best. I like when my players are strong, but that also means I will throw tougher enemies at you.
My table is not the place for...
Lone wolves, PvP, or politics
